000 for the purpose of general improvements within the
limits of Annapolis, and to submit the question of the issu-
ance of said bonds to the voters of said city, and to provide
for the advertisement and sale of said bonds and the payment
of interest thereon and their redemption when due.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the Mayor, Counselor and Aldermen of the City of
Annapolis be and it -is hereby authorized and empowered to
issue bonds on the credit of the said Mayor, Counselor and Al-

dermen of the City of Annapolis to the amount of $72, 000,
and said bonds shall be exempt from state, county and muni-
cipal taxation; said bonds to be signed by the Mayor of An-
napolis and attested by the City Clerk thereof, with the corpo-
rate seal of said city attached thereto; said bonds to bear in-
terest of not over six per centum per annum as determined by
the Mayor, Counselor and Aldermen of the City of Annapolis,
said interest to be payable semi-annually upon the presentation
of interest coupons which are to be attached to said bonds, and
said Mayor, Counselor and Aldermen are herewith authorized
and empowered to determine all other matters connected with
the character of said bonds and the method and incidents of
their issue, not in conflict with the provisions of this Act; said
bonds are to mature and shall be payable by the Mayor, Coun-
selor and Aldermen of the City of Annapolis as follows:
$4, 000 in the year 1925; $4, 000 in the year 1926; $4, 000 in
the year 1927; $4, 000 in 1928; $4, 000 in 1929; $4, 000 in
1930; $4, 000 in 1931; $4, 000 in 1932; $4, 000 in 1933; $4, 000
in 1934; $4, 000 in 1935; $4, 000 in 1936; $4, 000 in 1937;
$4, 000 in 1938; $4, 000 in 1939; $4, 000 in 1940; $4, 000 in
1941; $4, 000 in 1942; provided that the voters of the City of
Annapolis shall decide that said bonds shall issue, as herein-
after set out.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted. That the Mayor, Counselor and
Aldermen of the City of Annapolis shall call a special election
to be held in the City of Annapolis within sixty days of the
passage of this Act, at which time it shall be determined by
the qualified voters of that city whether or not said bonds shall
be issued; and the said Mayor, Counselor and Aldermen of
the City of Annapolis are herewith authorized to hold such
election, to fix the time thereof within the limits herein pre-
scribed and to do all things necessary for the conduct of such
election, giving due notice of the time when it shall be held and
the voting places; there shall be placed upon the ballots to be
