CHAPTER 98.

AN ACT to provide that the levy of municipal taxes upon
the assessable property of the City of Crisfield, subject
to taxation for municipal purposes, annually, for the
years 1920 and 1921, respectively, shall be at the rate of
sixty cents (60 cts. ) on the one hundred dollars ($100. 00)
of the assessed value thereof, and authorizing the City of
Crisfield to provide therefor by Ordinance and to refund
to the municipal taxpayers of said City of Crisfield who
may have heretofore paid taxes for either or both of said
years for municipal purposes in excess of said rate of
sixty cents (60 cts. ), the amount of such excess, and to
rebate the rate of taxes for municipal purposes as to all the
municipal taxpayers of said City, from any rate hereto-
fore levied or attempted or intended to be levied for
either or both of said years, in excess of sixty cents
(60 cts. ) upon the one hundred dollars ($100. 00) of the
assessed value of said City property, to said; rate of
sixty cents (60 cts. ) to be applicable to all municipal tax-
payers of said City alike.

Whereas by reason of certain circumstance and conditions
in the municipal affairs of the City of Crisfield, the annual
levy for each of the years 1920 and 1921 upon the assessable
property of said City subject to taxation for City purposes has
not been executed and effectuated; and

Whereas it has been made manifest to the General Assembly
that for the relief and satisfaction of the municipal taxpayers
of said City of Crisfield and for the orderly and essential ad-
vantage of its! financial affairs, it is desirable that this Act be
enacted; therefore.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the Council of the City of Crisfield is hereby
authorized and empowered to provide by ordinance that the
annual levy of taxes upon the assessable property of and in the
City of Crisfield, subject to taxation for City purposes, for
each of the years 1920 and 1921, respectively, shall be and be
operative and effective at the rate of sixty cents (60c. ) on the
One Hundred Dollars ($100. 00) of the assessed value thereof
and that upon the adoption and passage of such Ordinance by
said Council of Crisfield the tax levy upon the said assessable
property of said City, subject to taxation for City purposes,
annually, for each of said years 1920 and 1921, respectively,
