ment of mortgage had been in such matters in full conformity
with the law in force at the time of such execution; provided,
that any such mortgage or assignment of mortgage is in other
respects legal and valid; and provided further, that nothing in
this Act shall affect the rights of any bona fide purchasers or
creditors, without notice, who become so prior to the passage
of this Act.

CHAPTER 545.
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact with amendments Section 37
of Article 101 of the Annotated Code of Maryland, title
"Workmen's Compensation," as said section was amended
by Chapter 456 of the Acts of 1920, providing for the pay-
ment of counsel fees under certain conditions.

CHAPTER 546.
AN ACT to add a new section to Article 6 of the Code of Public
Local Laws of Maryland, title "Caroline County," sub-title
"County Treasurer," to be known as Section 61A and the
object of this Act being to provide a Deputy Treasurer for
Caroline County, Maryland.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That a new section be and the same is hereby added to
Article 6 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland, title
"Caroline County," sub-title "County Treasurer," to be known
as Section 61A and to read as follows:
Section 61A. The Treasurer of Caroline County shall, upon
taking office, beginning with the year 1922 and every four
years thereafter, appoint a Deputy Treasurer who shall hold
office for a term of four years, and the said deputy, so ap-
pointed, shall assist the Treasurer in the performance of all
the duties of said office under the direction and control of said
Treasurer, and said Treasurer for Caroline County shall be
liable and responsible for all the acts and conduct of said
deputy in the handling of any of the books, records or moneys
