60. The judges of election and each clerk of election shall
receive five dollars for his services; th officer of registration
shall receive ten dollars per diem for his services; the Clerk of
the Circuit Court for Howard County shall receive one dollar
for issuing said proclamation, which expenses and all other
expenses attending any such election shall be paid by the cor-
poration of Ellicott City.

81A. They shall elect at their first meeting, after having
taking the oath of office, a registrar of said city, said registrar
to be a registered voter of the corporation of Ellicott City, and
shall fix and ascertain by ordinance his duties and compensa-
tion. Said registrar shall hold office at the pleasure of the
said Commissioners of Ellicot City, and in case of a vacancy in
the office of the registrar, .by death or otherwise, the said Com-
missioners shall elect some person to fill such vecancy, fixing
and ascertaining by ordinance his duties and compensation.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted. That this Act is an emergency
law and necessary for the immediate preservation of the pub-
lic health and safety, and having been passed by a yea and nay
vote, supported by three-fifths of all the members elected to
each of the two Houses of the General Assembly, the same shall
take effect from the date of its passage.

CBAPTER 529.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact with amendments Sub-Section 3
of Section 63 of Article 101 (OI) of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (Bagby's Edition), title "Workmen's Compen-
sation," so as to make certain changes in the extent of the
application of workmen's compensation.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Sub-Section 3 of Section 63 of Article 101 (CI)
of the Annotated Code of Maryland (Bagby's Edition) as said
Sub-Section 3 of said Section 63 was amended by Chapter 456
of the Act of 1920 be, and the same is hereby, repealed and
re-enacted with amendments so as to read as follows:

63. (Sub-Section 3). "Employee" means a person who is
engaged in an extra-hazardous employment in the service of an
employer, carrying on or conducting the same upon the prem-
