year thereafter, pay over to the Commissioners of Millington
the sum of six hundred dollars ($600), so that the Commis-
sioners of Millington may receive and disburse the said amount
for the purpose of keeping in repair the public roads and
bridges of said town of Millington.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted. That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1922.

CHAPTER 454.
AN ACT to add a new section to Article 69 of the Annotated
Code of Maryland, title '' Officers,'' the same providing that
women shall be eligible to hold public offices and positions.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That a new section be and the same is hereby added to
Article 69 of the Annotated Code of Maryland, title "Officers,"
said new section to follow immediately after Section 12 of said
Article; to be known as Section 13, and to read as follows:
13. Women shall be eligible to hold all public offices and
positions to the same extent as men, subject to all provisions
of law, general or local, containing restrictions or qualifications
for holding such offices and positions. All positions of law
creating public offices or positions, and containing words or
phrases denoting the masculine gender, shall be construed to
include the feminine gender, unless the contrary intention is
specifically expressed.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That all laws and parts of
laws inconsistent with the provisions of this Act are hereby
repealed to the extent of such inconsistency.

cil of Havre de Grace, in Harford County, to issue bonds and
