CII.

of the city of Baltimore, is often so miry as to render it nearly impassable, to the great inconve-
nience of the public; therefore,

II. BE IT ENACTED, by tire General Assembly of Maryland, Tint all that part of Bridge-street Con-
tinued, lying within the precincts of the said city, and contained within twenty feet in width ad-
joining to and on the east side of the said city line in said street, from the intersection of Union-
street to the north-east side of Forrest- street, leading to Hillen's hay-scales, shall for ever hereaf-
ter be deemed and taken as a public highway, and kept in repair as other public roads in said county ;
provided, that nothing herein contained shall be so construed as. to affect the buildings of any person
or persons now erected on the space aforesaid.

A Supplement to the act, entitled, An act to provide for the election,
of representatives of this state in the congress of the United States
and of electors on the part of this state for choosing a president

and vice-president of the United States.

the second. dis-
trict

BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That Prince-George's county, except Pis-
cataway district, Calvert county, and the third and fourth election districts in Montgomery-
county, commonly called and known by the names of the Montgomery Court-house District, and
Thomas's District, shall compose the second election district, for the purpose of choosing an elector
of the president and vice-president of the United States, any thing in the said original act to the
contrary notwithstanding.

C H A P. CIV.

Preamble

An ACT to pay the civil lists.

WHEREAS those who dedicate their time, abilities and labour, to the public, ought to receive
a reasonable and adequate compensation for their services,

II. BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the following officers of civil go-
vernment for the time being shall be entitled to receive at the rate of the following salaries, in cur-
rent money, for the present year, to wit: The treasurer of the western shore, two thousand dollars;
the treasurer of the eastern shore, four hundred and fifty dollars; the auditor, eight hundred dol-
lars; the cterk, of the council, eight hundred dollars; the cterk of the senate, one hundred and fifty
dollars; the cterk of the house of delegates, three hundred dollars; the printer to the state, twelve
hundred dollars; the messenger to the council, two hundred and fifty dollars.

first applied,

III. AND RE IT ENACTED, That all monies which shall remain in the treasury, after discharging,
the journal of accounts, and all unappropriated money which may come into the treasury, be first
applied to the payment of the civil list for the present year.

An ACT to authorise, the building of a protestant episcopal church
within the city of Baltimore,, by the name of Saint-Peter's Church

and for other purposes.

BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That Jeremiah Yellott, John Scott, Wil-
liam Jolly, Hezekiah Waters, Josias Pennington, Simon Wilmer, of Edward, and James Cor-
rie, oF the city of Baltimore, are hereby authorised and empowered to solicit and receive subscrip-
tions and donations, not exceeding twenty-five thousand dollars, for the purpose of purchasing a lot
of land in the city of Baltimore, not exceeding one acre, for the building thereon a protestant epis-
copal church, to be called Saint-Peter's Church, and a lot of land, either within or without the said
city, not exceeding two acres, for a burial-ground to the said church.

conveyance,

&c.

IL AND BE IT ENACTED, That the said Jeremiah Yellott, John Scott, William Jolly, Hezekiah
Waters, Josias Pennington, Simon Wilmer, of Edward, and James Corrie, or a majority of them
may and they are hereby authorised and empowered to receive a conveyance or conveyances of the
said lot or lots of land, to them and their heirs, as joint tenants, and to purchase materials, and
contract with workmen, for the building of the said church
