LXVI.

"and truly to be made and done, we bind ourselves, our heirs, executors and administrators,
" jointly and severally, firmly by these presents. Sealed with our seals, and dated this —— day
" of —— , Anno Domini eighteen hundred and —— . Whereas the above named ——— was, on the
" —— clay of —— , in the year one thousand eight hundred and —— , appointed by the house of
" delegates of Maryland the treasurer for the —— shore of Maryland, and hath agreed to accept
" the said appointment. Now the condition of the above obligation is such, that if the above
" bounty —— do and shall in all things appertaining thereto, well, truly and faithfully, discharge
" and execute all and singular the duties of him required by law as treasurer of the ——— shore of
" Marvland, then this obligation to be void, otherwise to be and remain in full force and virtue in
"law."

Preamble.

An ACT to extend the powers of the trustees of the poor of
Montgomery county.

WHEREAS Alexander Sutherland, by his petition to this general assembly, hath set forth,
that he is now almost eighty years of age, and being afflicted with the rheumatism, and
other bodily infirmities incident to old age, has rendered him unable to support himself, and prays
that an act may pass to provide for his future maintenance out of the poor-house; therefore,

II. BE XT ENACTED, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That it shall and may be lawful for
the trustees of the poor of the said county of Montgomery, if they shall be of opinion that the
peculiar circumstances of the said Alexander Sutherland are such as to render a situation in the
poor-house particularly unsuitable for, him, to. support him as an out-pensioner, in addition to the,
number now allowed by the act, entitled, An act to enlarge the powers of the trustees of the poor
in the several counties therein designated, and to allow the said Alexander Sutherland an annual
pension not exceeding thirty dollars, to be paid at such time or times as the said trustees shall
direct, the amount of which said pension shall be levied in the same mariner as the other expences
of the poor-house in the said county.

C H A P. LXVIII.

An ACT for the relief of John Fairbank, of Anne-Arundel
county.

Preamble

WHEREAS John Fairbank, of Anne-Arundel county, emigrated to, and settled in, this state^
and since his emigration and settlement as aforesaid has acquired real property therein,
and his title to such property, from his not having become naturalized agreeably to the laws of the
United States, may be called in question, to his great detriment and injury ; therefore,

II. BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the title to the real property law-
fully and fairly acquired by the aforesaid John Fairbank, whether such title be, derived by gift,
grant, purchase or devise, be and the same is hereby as amply and as fully vested in the person afore-
said, to all intents and purposes, as, if he had been naturalised agreeably to said laws ; provided
always, that nothing in this act contained shall in any manner defeat or affect any right, title or
claim, to the said property, or any part thereof, acquired or prosecuted by any person or persons
whatever before the passage of this act ; and provided also, that unless the said John Fairbank
shall, on or before the first day of June next, proceed according to law to make himself a citizen
of the United States, this act shall have no effect to confirm his title to the property above men-
tioned, nor shall he, or any person claiming under him, derive any benefit under this act, but if
the said John Fairbank shall die before the time when, by the laws of the United States, he may
become a citizen thereof, nothing in this proviso contained shall prevent him from transmitting or
transferring his said property, by descent or devise, to any issue he may leave residing within the
United States, who is hereby declared capable in law to hold the same, or to any other person,
being a citizen of the United States capable in law to hold the same.

WHEREAS Hugh Coyle, of Frederick county, emigrated to, and settled in, this state, and

United States, before his acquisition of said property, may be called in question, to his great de-
triment and injury ; therefore,
