SUNDAY, December 25, 1808.

THE house met. Present the same members as on yesterday. The proceedings of yesterday were read.
The supplement to the act, entitled, An act to authorise William Handy and James Ritchie to sell and dispose
of the real estate of Isaac Handy, late of Somerset county, deceased, the supplement to the act, entitled, An
act to incorporate the stockholders of the Mechanics Bank of Baltimore, the supplement to the act, entitled,
An act to confirm and make public a certain road therein mentioned, the bill to suppress insurances in the state
of Maryland by the London Phoenix fire insurance company, and for other purposes, the bill to abolish all such
parts of the constitution and form of government as relate to the time and manner of electing the senate and
the mode of filling up vacancies in that body the bill to lay out a road therein mentioned the bill to extend
Centre-street in the northern precincts of the city of Baltimore; and to build a bridge therein across Jones Falls,
the resolution directing the executive to give notice to the officers and soldiers of the Maryland line, the reso-
lution relative to the contingent fund, and the resolution relative to the investments, were sent to the senate by
the clerk.

ORDERED, That the committee of claims close the journal of accounts including Monday the 26th instant.

ORDERED, That the committee of claims allow to John Sullivan sixty dollars for taking care of the furniture
ef the house of delegates.

ORDERED, That the committee of claims allow to the reverend Mr. Wyatt one hundred dollars for his at-
tendance as chaplain to the house of delegates.

On motion, Leave given to bring in a bill, entitled, An act for the payment of the journal of accounts. OR-
DERED, That Mr. Baer, Mr. Young and Mr. Porter, be a committee to prepare and bring in the same.

The following resolutions were read the first and second time by especial order, assented to, and sent to the
senate by the clerk.

RESOLVED, That the treasurer of the western shore pay unto James Harwood, assistant clerk to the senate,
the sum of sixty dollars, as a further compensation for his services during the present session.

RESOLVED, That the treasurer of the western shore pay unto William S. Green, assistant clerk to the house
of delegates, the sum of one hundred dollars, as a further compensation for his services during the present session.

RESOLVED, That the treasurer of the western share pay to the examiner-general of the western shore such
sum, in addition to his fees for the year one thousand eight hundred and eight, as shall amount to the sum of
three hundred pounds current money, and the examiner-general shall lay before the general assembly at their
next session the amount of fees by him received for the ensuing year, on oath. "

RESOLVED, That the treasurer of the western shore pay unto John Sullivan, messenger to the court of, chan-
cery, the sum of fifty dollars, as a compensation lor his services for the last year.

ORDERED. That the committee of claims allow to Edward Holland, door-keeper to the senate, the sum of
fifty dollars for his trouble in taking care of the senate chamber and furniture thereof, during the recess of the
general assembly, and that the same be placed on the journal of accounts.

The following message was read.

By the HOUSE of DELEGATES, December 25, 1808.
Gentlemen of the Senate,

WE have, acted upon all the business before us, and propose, with the concurrence of your house, to close
the session immediately.

By order, J. BREWER, clk.

The report of the committee on the petition of William Gwynn, was read the second time and concurred with.

RESOLVED, unanimously. That the thanks of this house be presented to Levin Winder, Esq. for the ability,
attention and impartiality, with which he has, during this session, discharged the various duties of speaker of
the house of delegates.

On motion, the question was put, That the bill to incorporate a company to straighten and turnpike the pre-
sent post-road Prom the Delaware line in Caecil county, to Baltimore city, through Caecil, Harford and Baltimore
counties, be referred to the first day of June next? Resolved in the affirmative.

The clerk of the senate delivers the further additional supplement to the act, entitled, An act ro provide for
the administration of justice in the cases of crimes and misdemeanors in the city and county of Baltimore, and
for other purposes, the bill to straighten and Jay out a road in Baltimore and Harford counties, and the further
supplement to an act, entitled, An act for regulating the mode of staying executions, and repealing the acts of
assembly therein mentioned, severally endorsed, " will pass. " Ordered to be engrossed. Also the bill to alter
the times of the meeting of the court of appeals, and for other purposes, endorsed, " will pass with the pro-
posed amendments" which amendments were read. Also the resolutions relative to the distribution cf arms,
