Heyland and Richardson Galt, of the city of Baltimore, a bill, entitled, An act for the relief of Jonathan Ed-
wards and Gilbert Middleton, of the city of Baltimore, and the bill for the relief of Benjamin Morris, of Bal-
timore county; which were read the first time and ordered to lie on the table.
Mr. Steuart, from the committee, delivers to the speaker a bill, entitled, An act to incorporate the Charitable
Marine Society of Baltimore; which was read the first time and ordered to lie on the table.
The bill authorising the drawing of a lottery for the benefit of the College of Medicine of Maryland, was read
the second time by especial order and passed.
The house adjourns until to-morrow morning 9 o'clock.

THE house met. Present the same members as on yesterday. The proceedings of yesterday were read!:
The bill authorising a lottery for the benefit of the College of Medicine of Maryland, the message and reso-
lution in favour of John Trueman, and the resolution relative to the penitentiary, were sent to the senate by
the clerk.
On motion, Leave given to bring in a bill, entitled, A supplement to an act for a scheme of a lottery to raise
a sum of money to repair Saint-George's church, in Harford county. ORDERED, That Mr. Streett, Mr. Davis
and Mr. Forwood, be a committee to prepare and bring in the same.
Mr. Streett, from the committee, delivers to the speaker the said bill; which was read the first and second
time by especial order and passed;
Mr. W. Moffitt, from the committee, delivers to the speaker a bill, entitled, A supplement to the act, entitled;
An act for the benefit of Margaretta Chalmers; which was read the first time and ordered to lie on the table. "
The clerk of the senate delivers the bill to authorise a lottery to raise a sum of money for the purpose of fi-
nishing the Elkton academy, purchasing philosophical apparatus for the same, and for paving and improving
the streets of Elkton, in Caecil county, endorsed, " will pass. " Ordered to be engrossed. The supplement to
an act, entitled, An act for founding a college in the city or precincts of Baltimore, by the name of Baltimore
College, endorsed, "will pass with the proposed amendment; " which amendment was read the first and second
time by especial order, agreed to, and the bill ordered to be engrossed. A bill, entitled, An act to provide for
the making passable through Baltimore county the public road laid out from the city of Baltimore to the town of
Belle-Air, in Harford county, and the public road laid out from Gravelly Hill, on the Reister's-town turnpike
road, to Philemon Barnes's plantation on the Frederick county line, the bill to alter the time for holding the;
county court of Montgomery county, severally endorsed, " will pass; " which were read the first time and or-
dered to lie on the table. The bill for the relief of the heirs of Levin Woolford, of Dorchester county, the
bill to lay out and open a road from Bond street, on Fell's Point, to intersect the York turnpike road, severally
endorsed, " will pass. " Ordered to be engrossed. The bill to alter all such parts of the constitution and form
of government as relate to the residence of voters, and the bill to pay the civil list, and other expenses of civil
government, severally endorsed, " will not pass. " And the following message:
By the SENATE, January 8, 1808.
Gentlemen of the House of Delegates,
WE have rejected the bill, entitled, An act to pay the civil list, and other expenses of civil government, be-
cause we are not satisfied with the increase of certain salaries therein mentioned. If you will send us a bill
with the same salaries as are provided by the law passed last year, it will meet our approbation. We are of
opinion that at this particular period, when a considerable diminution has taken place in the price of the prin-
cipal articles of living, that we ought not to reduce the funds of the state by an augmentation of salaries, espe-
cially as the time may be fast approaching when there may be a necessity for the most rigid economy to enable
us to meet the exigency of events.

Which was read.
A petition from sundry inhabitants of North Millford hundred in Caecil county, praying a road from Forguson
Smith's to Fair Hill, was preferred, read, and referred to Mr. Mitchell, Mr. T. Moffit and Mr. Porter, to con-
sider and report thereon.
On motion, Leave given to bring in a bill, entitled, An act to vest certain powers' in the orphans court in
Charles county, and for other purposes therein mentioned. ORDERED, That Mr. C. Dorsey, Mr. Green and
Mr. Rogerson, be a committee to prepare and bring in the same.
On the second reading of the further additional supplement to the act, entitled, An act for amending, and re-
ducing into system, the laws and regulations concerning last wills and testaments, the duties of executors, ad-
ministrators and guardians, and the rights of orphans and other. representatives of deceased persons, the que-
