VOTES AND PROCEEDINGS, NOVEMBER SESSION, 1807. 73

On motion, Leave given tor bring in a bill, entitled A supplement to an act compelling the proprietors of lots
binding on the water at the west end of the bason in the city of Baltimore to extend and improve the same.
ORDERED, That Mr. Mitchell, Mr. Shaaff and Mr. Bruce, be a committee to prepare and bring in the same.

A petition from sundry inhabitants of Harford county, counter to the petition for a road from Belle-Air to
Hickory tavern, was preferred, read, and referred to the committee on the petition to which it is counter.

The supplement to the act, entitled, An act authorising the drawing of a lottery to defray the expense of
building a masonic hall in the city of Baltimore, was read the second time and passed.

The house proceeded to the second reading of the additional supplement to the act, entitled, An act to ascer-
tain the allowance to jurymen and witnesses of the general court, and the several county and orphans courts in
this state, and on progression, the question was put, That the blank therein be filled up with the words " two
and a half dollars ?" Determined in the negative.

The question was then put on " two dollars. " The yeas and nays being required, appeared as follow:

So it was resolved in the affirmative.

On further progression, the question was put, That the words " to be paid by the treasurer of the shore of
the state to which the said counties shall respectively belong, out of any unappropriated money in the treasu-
ry, " be inserted in the first clause after the words " his duty as such ?" Determined in the negative.

The question was then put, That the following be added to the end of the first clause? "provided, that no-
thing in this act contained shall in anywise extend to Baltimore, Allegany, Harford, Calvert, Somerset and
Frederick counties. " Resolved in the affirmative.

The question was then put, Shall the said bill pass? Resolved in the affirmative.

O. n motion, the question was put. That the report on the petition of Rinaldo Johnson now have a second-
reading? Determined in the negative.

The house adjourns until to-morrow morning 9 o'clock..

WEDNESDAY, December 23, 1807;

THE house met. Present the same members as on yesterday. The proceedings "of yesterday were read

The supplement to the act, entitled, An act authorising the drawing; of a lottery to defray the expense of
building a masonic hall in. the city of Baltimore, and the additional supplement to the act, entitled, An act to
ascertain the allowance to jurymen and witnesses of the general court, and the several county and orphans
courts in this state, were sent to the senate by the clerk.

Mr. Hall, from the committee, delivers to the speaker a bill, entitled, An act to authorise and empower the
levy court of Prince-George's county to assess a sum of money for the purpose therein mentioned; which was
read the first and second time by especial order, passed, and sent to the senate by the clerk.

Mr. T. Dorsey, from the committee, delivers to the speaker a bill, entitled, An act relative to writs of capias
ad satisfaciendum; which was read the first time and ordered to lie on the tables

A petition from Anne Terry, of Kent county, praying that she may be authorised to stop the old road
leading to Turner's creek, was preferred, read, and referred to Mr. Welch, Mr. W. Moffitt and Mr. Brice, to
consider and report thereon.

Mr; Carroll, from the committee, delivers to the speaker a bill,. entitled, An act to prevent the going at large.
of swine and poultry in Clarksburgh, in Montgomery county; which was read the first time and ordered to lie
on the table.

On the second reading of the report on the petition of Rinaldo Johnson, the question was put, That the words
" with interest thereon from the eleventh day of June, 1792, " be stricken out of the first resolution therein
contained? Determined in the negative.

The question was then put, That the whole of; the first resolution be stricken out from the word " whereby"
inclusive? Resolved in the affirmative;.

The question was then put, That the house concur with the said report, and assent to the resolution therein
contained? Resolved in the affirmative.

On progression, the question was put, That the words " until the first day of January, 1795, " be inserted in
the second resolution after the words " seventeen hundred and eighty-seven?" Determined. in the negative.
