62 VOTES AND PROCEEDINGS, NOVEMBER SESSION, 1807.

Mr. Boon, From the committee, delivers to the speaker, a bill, entitled, A further supplement to the act, en-
titled, An act for erecting a village at Choptank bridge, in Caroline county, and for other purposes therein
mentioned; which was read the first and second time by especial order and passed

Mr. Linthicum, from the committee, delivers to the speaker the following report:

THE committee to whom was referred the petition of sundry inhabitants of Montgomery county, praying
that a road might be opened from Conrod Miers's ferry, on Patowmack river, to intersect t:; e road leading Prom
the mouth of Monocacy to Green's bridge, report, that they have taken the same into consideration, and are of
opinion that the prayer of the petitioners ought not to be granted, and that the petitioners have leave to with
draw their petition. All which is submitted.

By order, D. L. JACOB, clk.
Which was read the first and second time by especial order and concurred with.

Mr. Little, from the committee, delivers to the speaker a bill, entitled, An act to confirm a certain road in
Baltimore county; which was read the first time and ordered to lie on the table.

Mr. Frazier, from the committee, delivers to the speaker a bill, entitled, An act to increase the allowance of
the justices of the orphans courts in the several counties of this state;, which was. read the first time and order-
ed to lie on the table.

On motion, the question was put, That the house adjourn? The yeas and nays being required, appeared as follow:

WEDNESDAY, December 16, 1807.

THE house met. Present the same members as on yesterday. The proceedings of yesterday were read.

The resolution in favour of Thomas Meredith, and the further supplement to an act, entitled, An act for
erecting a village at Choptank bridge, in Caroline county, and for other purposes, therein mentioned, were sent
to the senate by the clerk.

Mr. J. Williams, from the committee, delivers to the speaker a bill, entitled, An act for recording certain
wills in the register's office of Worcester county, and a bill, entitled, An act authorising and directing the sales
of certain lands lying in Worcester county belonging to William Fleming, deceased; which were read the first
time and ordered to lie on the table.

A petition from John Wilkins, of Somerset county, praying to be released from the additional nine per cent,
. imposed on him by law, was preferred, read, and referred to Mr. Jacks. on, Mr. Gale, of Somerset, and Mr.
King, to consider and report thereon.

Mr. Seth has leave of absence

A petition from the Baltimore Insurance Company, praying a law may pass authorising, in addition to the ob-
jects contemplated by charter, they may be authorised to. invest the company's funds, or any part thereof, from
time to time as occasion may require, in shares of any chartered bank, in road stock, or in any other fund or
stock in the United States already created, or that may hereafter be created, was preferred, read, and referred
to Mr. T. Dorsey, Mr. Steuart and Mr. Little, to consider and report thereon.

A petition from the commissioners appointed by the act of assembly for establishing pilots and regulating their
fees, praying they may have authority to obtain evidence when holding court, and be compensated for their ser-
vices, was preferred, read, and referred to Mr. T. Dorsey, Mr. Blakistone and Mr. Steuart, to consider and
report thereon.

On motion, Leave given to bring in a bill, entitled, An act to alter, change and abolish, all such parts of the
constitution and form of government as relate to the time of the meeting of the general assembly, and for other
purposes. ORDERED, That Mr. Bayard, Mr. Carroll, Mr. Jump, Mr. T. Dorsey and Mr. Bowles, be a com-
mittee to prepare and bring in the same.

The bill authorising Robert Leatherbury, of Somers. et county, to complete his collection, was read the second
time and passed.

On motion, the house resolved itself into a committee of the whole on the bill to regulate and discipline the
militia of this state; Mr. Shaaff in the chair. After sometime spent therein, the speaker resumed the chair,
and Mr. Shaaff reported, that the committee had taken into consideration the subject matter referred to them, but
Bot having time to go through the same, had directed him to move for leave to sit again.

The question was then put. That the committee have leave to sit again? Resolved in the affirmative.

The house adjourns until to-morrow morning 9 o'clock,.
