36 VOTES AND PROCEEDINGS, NOVEMBER SESSION, 1807.

Mr. T. Dorsey, from the committee, delivers to the speaker a bill, entitled, An act for the enlargement of
the city of Baltimore, in Baltimore county; which was read the first time and ordered to lie on the table.

Mr. T. Dorsey, from the committee, delivers to the speaker a bill, entitled, An act to confirm certain deeds
of conveyance made to Joseph Leonard, and other persons therein mentioned; which was read the first time and
ordered to lie on the table.

Mr. Gale, of Kent, from the committee, delivers to the speaker a bill, entitled, An act for the benefit of
Margaretta Chalmers; which was read the first time and ordered to lie on the table.

Mt. O. Williams, from the committee, delivers to the speaker a bill, entitled, An additional supplement to an
act, entitled, An act to ascertain the allowance to jurymen and witnesses of the general court, and the several
county and orphans courts in this state; which was read the first time and ordered to lie on the table.

A memorial from the trustees of Baltimore college, praying an amendment to their charter, and to be exempt
from paying license for drawing their lottery, was preferred, read, and. referred to Mr. T. Dorsey, Mr. Steuart
and Mr. Little, to consider and report thereon.

Mr. Carroll, from the committee, delivers to the speaker a bill, entitled, An act authorising Benjamin Ray,
late sheriff and collector of Montgomery county, te complete, his collection; which was read. the first time and
ordered to lie on the table.

The house adjourns until. to-morrow morning 9 o'clock.

SATURDAY, November 28, 1807.

THE house met. Present the same members as on. yesterday. The proceedings of yesterday were read.

The speaker laid before the house the return of the judges of. the election for Washington county; which was
read and referred to the committee appointed to examine said returns.

Mr. William Gabby, a delegate returned for Washington county, appeared, and after qualifying in the mode
prescribed by the constitution and form of government, and taking the oath to support. the constitution of the
United States, took his seat in the house.

The bill to make valid a deed from Isaac Dixon to John Dashiell for part of a tract of land called Dixon's
Green, was read the second time, passed, and sent to the senate by the clerk.

The bill to incorporate the stockholders of the Hagar's-town Bank, was sent to the senate by the clerk.

A memorial from Ignatius Middleton, of Charles county, counter to the memorial of sundry inhabitants of
said county, was preferred, read, and referred to the committee appointed on the memorial to which it is counter.

A petition from the lutheran and presbyterian congregations, praying to be authorised to sell a parcel of
land for the benefit thereof, was preferred, read, and referred to Mr. Tabbs, Mr. Bowles and Mr. Schnebly, to
consider and report thereon.

The bill for the benefit of the vestry of the German evangelic lutheran congregation in and about Elizabeth-
town, at Saint-John's church, in Washington county, was read the second time, passed, and sent to the senate
by the clerk.

A petition from sundry inhabitants of Harford county, praying the Toad from the county road leading to
Charles Rigdon's mill may be declared a public highway, and commissioners appointed to streighten the same to
the Quaker Bottom, until it intersects the road to Smith's ferry on Susquehanna, was preferred, read, and re-
ferred to Mr. Davis, Mr. Streett and Mr. Ayres, to consider and report thereon.

Mr. W. H. Brown, from the committee, delivers to the speaker a bill, entitled, A further supplement to the
act, entitled, An act relating to negroes; which was read the first time and ordered to lie on the table.

On the second reading of the supplement to the act, entitled, An act to prevent free negroes from selling any
corn, wheat or tobacco, without having a license for that purpose from a justice of the peace, the question was
put, That the further consideration of the same be postponed until the first day of August next? Determined
in the negative.

The bill being read throughout, the question was put, shall the said bill pass? The yeas and nays being re-
quired, appeared as follow:

So it was determined in the negative.

The clerk of the senate delivers the bill annulling the marriage of Brittania Marshall, of Dorchester county,
endorsed, "will not pass. " And the bill annulling the marriage of Patrick Sim, and Ariana Sim, endorsed,

will pass. " Ordered to be engrossed.
