W. H. Brown, Frisby, Harryman, Martin, Porter, Downes. Forwood, Watts,
Gardiner, Comegys, Kerr, Jackson, Moffit, J. Brown, Davis, Selby,
Blakistone, M'Pherson. Dickinson, Ward, Mitchell, Street, Turpin, Darne. 24.

So it was resolved in the affirmative.

On motion, the question was put, That the bill to provide for the election of commissioners by the people to
settle and ascertain the public taxes in each county of this state, and for other purposes, be referred to the first

day of June next? Resolved in the affirmative.

The clerk of the senate delivers the bill annulling the marriage of William Booth and Jane Booth, the bill to
lay out, open and improve, the road leading from Hancock, in Washington county, to Cumberland, in Allega-
ny county, and the bill for the benefit of Elizabeth Webster, of the city of Baltimore, severally endorsed

"will pass. " Ordered to be engrossed. The supplement to an act, entitled. An act to provide for the appoint-
ment of commissioners for the regulation and improvement of Cambridge, in Dorchester county, and to esta-
blish and regulate a market in said town, and the bill to condemn a piece of ground in Kent county for the pur-
poses therein mentioned, severally endorsed " will puss with the proposed amendment; " which amendments wire

read the first and second time, agreed to, and the bills ordered to be engrossed.

Mr. Kuhn, from the committee, delivers to the speaker a bill, entitled, A supplement to an act, entitled, An
act to prevent any obstruction of the navigation in the river Patowmack; which was read the first time and or-
dered to lie on the table.

Mr. Smoot, from the committee, delivers to the speaker a bill, entitled, An act to extend further the powers
of the clerks of the several counties in this state; which was read the first time and ordered to lie on the table.

The house adjourns until to-morrow morning 9 o'clock.

TUESDAY, December 30, 1806.

THE house met. Present the same members as on yesterday. The proceedings of yesterday were read.

The resolution in favour of Joseph Ennalls, and others, and the bill authorising the levy court of Baltimore
county to levy a sum of money for the purpose therein mentioned, were sent to the senate by the clerk.

A petition from Thomas Meeteer, Gilbert Middleton and Jonathan Edwards, of the city of Baltimore, pray-
ing special acts of insolvency, was preferred, read, and referred to the committee appointed on petitions of a
similar nature.

A petition from William Ferguson, praying that a law may pass, authorising him to receive a claim which he
has against the state, with interest thereon, was preferred, read, and referred to Mr. Hall, Mr. B. Hodges and
Mr. Jackson, to consider and report thereon.

ORDERED, That for the remainder of the session no member shall have leave of absence unless the same be
asked for in person.

Mr, Winder has leave of absence.

ORDERED, That the committee of claims allow Mr. John Sanders, assistant clerk of the house of delegates,
the sum cf fifty dollars, as a further compensation for his services during the present session.

The bill to encourage the destruction of crows in the several counties of this state, was read the second time,
passed, and sent to the senate by the clerk.

On motion, the question was put, That the committee to whom was referred the bill for the encouragement
of learning in this state, be discharged? Determined in the negative.

A petition from John Smith Brookes, of Prince-George's county, praying that a certificate purchased by him
may be applied towards the discharge of a debt due by him to the state, was preferred, read, and referred to
Mr. B. Hodges, Mr. W. H. Brown, Mr. Woodward, Mr. Ward and Mr. Hall, to consider and report thereon.

On the second reading of the supplement to an act, entitled, An act for the advancement of justice, the ques-
tion was put, That the further consideration thereof be referred to the first day of June next? The yeas and
nays being required, appeared as follow:
