4 VOTES AND PROCEEDINGS, NOVEMBER SESSION, 1806.

The house proceeded to ballot for five committee clerks; the ballots being deposited in the ballot box, the
gentlemen named to strike retired, and after sometime returned and reported, that Mr. David L. Jacob, Mr.
Louis Gassaway, Mr. Nicholas Martin, Mr. John S. Skinner and Mr. Wallace Dixon, were elected. ORDERED,
That they be qualified.
The house adjourn until to-morrow morning 9 o'clock.

WEDNESDAY, November 5, 1806.

THE house met. Present the same members as on yesterday. The proceedings of yesterday were read.
On motion, ORDERED, That Mr. William H. Brown and Mr. Forwood wait upon his Excellency the Gover-
nor, and inform him that this house, is met, and are ready to proceed to public business, and to receive any
communications he may think proper to lay before them.

The; speaker laid before the house a letter from Benjamin Harwood, trustee, enclosing an account current of
funded stock to the 31st of October, 1806, inclusive, also an account current of interest and principal received
on said stock to the same period; Which were read and ordered to lie on the table.

On motion, ORDERED, That the printer to the state be requested to furnish the house of delegates with six
copies of the laws and the votes and proceedings of the last session of the general assembly.
The house proceeded to ballot for a committee to inspect and examine the returns of elections, and report
whether they have been made agreeably to the constitution and form of government; the ballots being deposit-
ed in the ballot box, the gentlemen named to strike retired, and after sometime returned and reported, that
Mr. Chapman, Mr. Kerr, Mr. Sudler, Mr. Mitchell, Mr. Aisquith, Mr. Little and Mr. Bond, were elected,
ORDERED, That they have power to send for persons, papers and records.

The house proceeded to ballot for a committee, of claims; the ballots being deposited in the ballot box, the
gentlemen named to strike retired, and after sometime returned and reported, that Mr. Hawkins, Mr. Smoot,
Mr. Denny, Mr. Turpin, Mr. Harryman, Mr. Street and Mr, Woodward, were elected.

The house proceeded to ballot far a committee of grievances and courts of justice; the ballots being deposit-
ed in the ballot box, the gentlemen. named to strike retired, and after sometime returned and reported, that
Mr. Shaaff, Mr. Dickinson, Mr. Bowles, Mr. Briscoe and Mr. Forwood, were elected.

ORDERED, That Mr. Sudler, Mr.. Chapman and Mr. Little, be a committee to report such rules as are pro
per to be observed during the session.
The house adjourns until to-morrow morning 9 o'clock.

THURSDAY, November 6, 1806.

THE house met. Present the same members as on yesterday. The proceedings of yesterday were read.
Mr. William Gleaves, a delegate returned for Queen-Anne's county, Mr. Thomas. Blackistone, a delegate re-
turned for Saint-Mary's county, Mr. Thomas Blake, a delegate, returned for Calvert county, Mr. George D.
Parnham, a delegate returned for Charles county, Mr. Stephen White and Mr. John Dashiell, delegates return-
ed for Worcester county, appeared, and after qualifying in the mode prescribed by. the constitution and form of
government, and taking the oath to support the constitution of the United States took their seats in the
house.

The speaker laid before the house a letter from the treasurer of the eastern shore, enclosing the receipts and
expenditures of the eastern shore treasury for the year ending the 31st of October last, with a list of balances
due on the books of the eastern shore treasury, also the account. current of the treasurer with the state; which
were read and referred to the committee of claims.

On motion, ORDERED, That Mr. William H. Brown, Mr. Sudler, Mr. Chapman, Mr. Downes, Mr. Dickin-
son, Mr. Frisby and Mr. Kerr, be a committee to examine and report, what laws expire with the present
session.

A petition from sundry inhabitants of Talbot county, praying a law may pass appointing commissioners to
lay out a public road from Anthony Banning's gate, near Threadhaven creek, to intersect the public main road
leading from Easton to Haddaway s ferry, was preferred, read, and referred to Mr. Denny, Mr. Dickinson an
Mr. Kerr, to consider and report thereon.

On motion, Leave given to bring in a bill, entitled, A supplement to an act, entitled, An act for the amend-
ment of the law in certain cases. ORDERED, That Mr. M'Pherson, Mr. Chapman, Mr, Blackistone, Mr. Den-
nis and Mr. Shaaff, be a committee to prepare and bring in the same.

On motion, ORDERED, That the printer to the state be and he is hereby directed to print one hundred copies
of every bill, resolution and report, containing subjects of a public nature which shall be read by the clerk
during the, session, also of. all official papers, for the use of the members.

A petition from James Murphy, of Dorchester county, praying a law may pass authorising a sale of the real
estate of William Murphy, deceased, and a disposal of the money arising therefrom to the use and benefit of
his children, was preferred, read, and referred to Mr. Smoot, Mr. Ward and Mr. Dennis, to consider and r
port thereon.
