No. 26.

1832.

Resolution in favor of Joshua Guyton, Sheriff of Harford

County.

Resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
the petition of Joshua Guyton, Sheriff of Harford county,
and the several vouchers accompanying the same, be refer-
red to the consideration of his Excellency the Governor,
and the Honorable the Council, and in case they, upon a
full hearing and examination of the petition and vouchers,
shall think the said Sheriff entitled to any thing, for the
money paid and expended in apprehending Negro Nace,
they shall be authorised to draw on the Treasurer of the
Western Shore, for such sum as they may award to him,
the said Sheriff.

Resolution relative to commemorating the anniversary of

Reiolved by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
the Governor and Council be requested to have a federal
salute fired at sunrise, a national salute at noon, and a
federal salute at sunset, on the twenty-second day of this
present month of February, and that the state flag shall be
displayed through the day, and annually on the same day
thereafter, in commemoration of the anniversary of the
birth of George Washington.

Resolution relative to the Public Lands.

WHEREAS, the National Domain was acquired by the
whole American people, and therefore of right ought to
enure for their common benefit; And whereas, the appro-
priation of the same to the colonization of the free colored
people, to internal improvement, and to education, would
essentially contribute to promote our internal security, to
Strengthen the bonds of our union, and to render us a per-
manently free, virtuous, enlightened and happy people; —
Therefore,
