CHAP. 279.

said county shall appoint another or others to fill such va-
vancy or vacancies.

Compilation to

assessors

Sec. 10. And be it enacted, That the several assessors
appointed by virtue of this act, shall receive such compen-
sation for their services, as the commissioners of said
county shall think reasonable and proper, according to the
duty which said assessors shall respectively perform,which
said compensation shall be levied and collected as other
county charges are.

Time prescribed.

Sec. 11. And be it enacted, That the said commissioners
be, and they are hereby authorised to cause to be complet-
ed, the said assessment in said county on or before the
first day of August next, any law to the contrary notwith-
standing.

Compensation to
clerk.

Sec. 12. And be it enacted, That whatever extra duties
the execution of this law may create or impose on the
clerk to the commissioners, they may, in their discretion,
allow him such an amount as they may deem an equivalent
for such extra duties.

Levy under new

Sec. 13. And be it enacted, That the commissioners
shall, at their first levy term after the final completion of the
assessment, proceed to levy the taxation on the said new
assessment, as the circumstances of the county may re-
quire.

A supplement to an act, entitled, "an act establishing a Li-
brary for the use of the Legislature."

Fitting up a room

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That in consideration of the increasing usefulness and im-
portance of the State Library, and the room at present oc-
cupied for that institution being too small for the necessary
purposes thereof, that the executive be and they are hereby
authorised and requested to have the old general court
room, or octagon part of the hall of the State-house fitted
up in a suitable manner for the State Library, under the
superintendence of the State Librarian, whose duty it shall
be when said room is so fitted up, to remove all books,
maps, public documents, and other property now apper-
taining to the State Library, into the same.
