CHAP. 196.

Legal notice. ———

promissory notes, which shall be offered for discount in
said bank, by any person or persons, although the same
shall not on the face thereof, be made negotiable at the
Commercial Bank of Millington, nor be made payable at
the house of any person in Millington, and that the same
shall be recoverable by said bank, in any court of law, or
equity, and be good and valid, to all intents and purpo-
ses.

Repeal.

Sec. 10. And be it enacted, That every part of the act,
to which this is a supplement, inconsistent with the provi-
sions of this act, be and the same is hereby abrogated and
annulled.


CHAPTER 196.

Passed Mar. 14,1833

A supplement to the act, entitled, "An act to Incorporate the
Trustees of the Female Orphans' Society of Annapolis."

Preamble.

WHEREAS, a number of ladies in Annapolis, who have
associated for the laudable purpose of rearing and educating
destitute female orphan children, represent to this Legisla-
ture that the interests of the objects of their charity and
solicitude would be greatly promoted if they could be re-
tained subject to the rules of the Institution, till they ar-
rive at the age of eighteen; and the Legislature according
with them in opinion — Therefore,

Authority to bind

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the trustees of the Female Orphans' So-
ciety of Annapolis, be, and they are hereby authorized and
empowered to bind out the Female Children under their
charge, till they shall attain the age of eighteen years, or
be married.

Wages after 16

years old

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That it shall be the duty of
said trustees, in binding out said children, to require wages
for their services, after they attain the age of sixteen years,
to be paid over to said Orphans when they shall be res-
pectively entitled to their discharge from service.
