WICOMICO COUNTY

Records

No county of Maryland has been more fortunate than Wicomico in preserving its essential
records. If there have been losses they are not obvious ones. Several factors have contributed
to bring about this happy state: the county is relatively new having been erected in 1867, it
has had only one courthouse thereby avoiding the losses attendant on moving, there has been
neither fire nor flood, and the caretakers of the records, the judges, the clerks and the registers
have not been neglectful of their duties.
