five Pounds four Shillings Cur^t. Money on demand with Interest thereon untill the Said Sum of five Pounds four
Shillings Cur^t Money af^d. Should be paid for Value Received by Reason whereof as also by force of the Statute in Such
Case made and Provided the Said Isaac became Liable to Pay to the Said William the Said Sum of five Pounds
and four Shillings Cur^t. Money af^d. on Demand in the Said note Mentioned According to the tenor and Effect of the
Said Note and So thereof Liable being the Said Isaac in Consideration thereof afterwards to wit the Same day and
Year af^d. at the County af^d. Undertook and then and there faithfully Promised that he the Said Isaac the Said Sum of
five Pounds and four Shillings Cur^t. Money af^d. When he Should be thereto afterwards Required unto the Said
William well and faithfully would Pay and Content Nevertheless the Said Isaac his Promise and
Undertaking af^d. in form af^d. Made Little Regarding but minding and fraudulently Intending the Said
William in this Particular Craftily and Subtilly to deceive and defraud the Sum of Money af^d. unto
the Said William hath not Paid or him for the Same in Any Sort Contented (Altho the Same to do the Same
Isaac afterwards to wit the Same day and Year af^d. and often Since at the County af^d. by the Said William
Was Required but the Same to him to pay hitherto altogether hath Refused and Still doth Refuse and
Unjustly detain Whereupon the Said William Says he is Worse and hath Damage to the Value of Ten
Pounds Cur^t Money of Maryland and thereof he bring Suit and So forth

   Whereupon the Said Isaac Roads ~~by Wi~~ at the Prayer of the af^d. William Pittman is Adjudged to Give
Special Bail to the Action af^d.    Thereupon a Certain John Carmichael of Somerset County Planter present
here in Court in his Proper Person undertook for the Said Isaac Roads and Assumed upon himself that if it
Should happen that Judgment in the Plea af^d. Should be Rendred for the Said William Pittman Against the
af^d. Isaac Roads or that he the Said Issac Roads Should be therein Convict that then he the Said Isaac Roads
Should Pay and Satisfie unto the af^d. W^m. Pittman the Judgment of the Court thereupon or Render his body in
Execution of Such Judgment to the Prison of the Sheriff of the County af^d. in Satisfaction thereof or that he the
Said John Carmichael will do the Same for him &^c
           And the af^d. Isaac Roads by William Allen his Attorney Comes and defends the force and Injury
when &^c. And Saith that he Cannot deny the Action af^d. of the af^d. W^m. Pittman nor but that he did Assume upon
himself in Manner and form as the af^d. William Pittman Above Against him hath Complained and as to
the Damage of the Said William by him by Occasion of the Premisses in that part Sustained the Same
Isaac Siath and Acknowledgeth that the af^d. William hath Sustained Damages by Occasion of the Premisses
beyond his Costs and Charges by him about his Suit in that part Apposed to five Pounds four Shillings Cur^t Money
And not More and because the af^d. William denys not this but the Same Allegation Grants to be true prays
Judgment for those Damages above Acknowledged together with his Costs and Charges af^d. to him to be Adjudged
Therefore by Consent of the Partis af^d. it is Considered that the af^d. W^m. Pittman Recover Against the af^d.
Isaac Roads his Damages af^d. to the af^d. five Pounds four shillings Cur^t Money by the Same Isaac in form af^d. Acknowledged
201    as also                                               Pounds of tobacco for his Costs and Charges af^d. to the Same William
at his Request by this Court now here of the Assent of the parties af^d. Adjudged which Certain Damages in
the Whole Amount to five Pounds four Shillings Cur^t Money &
Pounds of Tobacco and the af^d. Isaac in Mercy &^c

@    Command was given to the Sheriff of Somerset County that he Should take Jacob Cullen Late of Somerset County planter

WA    Jacob Cullen    if he Should be found in his Bailywick and him Should Safe keep so that he might have his body before the Justices of his

Lordships County Court of Somerset to be held at Princes Ann Town the third Tuesday of November Anno Dom. 1760 to Answer unto Aaron
Starling of a plea wherefore with force and Arms he the Said Jacob at the County af^d. one Red Roan Gelding the proper Gelding of the Said Aaron of the
price of fifteen pounds Current money of Maryland One Black Gelding the proper Gelding of the Said Aaron of the price of fifteen pounds Cur^t Money af^d.
& One dark bay Gelding the proper Gelding of the af^d. Aaron of the price of fifteen pounds Cur^t. Money af^d. did take Lead away Impound and Abuse
and other harms to the Said Aaron then and there did to the Great damage of the Said Aaron and Against Our peace that now is &^c. And the Same day
is given to the af^d. Aaron here &^c.
                                              Att which day here Came the af^d. Aaron Starling by W^m. Hayward his Attorney and the Sheriff to witt
John Dennis Gen^t now here Returned that he had taken the af^d. Jacob Cullen whose body here at this day he had Ready to Answer
the af^d. Aaron Sterling of the af^d. plea as to him it was Commanded
           Whereupon the Said Jacob Cullen puts in his place William Allen Gen^t Attorney at Law Against the af^d.
