WH    Young Baily McGlawlin    Command was given to ye. Sherriffe of Somerset Coty.

vs    that he should take John Covington Late of Somerset
SW    John Covington    County Planter if he should be found in his Bailywick
and him should Safe keep so that he might have his Body before ye. Justices of his Lordships
County Court of Somerset to be held at Princes Ann Town ye. third Tuesday March Anno
Dom. one thousand seven hundred & Sixty to Answer unto Young Baily McGlawlin
of a plea wherefore with force and Arms he ye. said John in and upon him ye. said Young
Baily at Somerset County afd. an assault did make and him ye. said Young Baily then
and there did Beat Wound and Evilly treat so that of his Life it was much Dispaired
and other harms to him ye. said Young Baily then & there did to the great Damage
of ye. said Young Bailey & against our peace that now is & so forth
And ye. same Day is given to ye. afd. Young Bailey Mcloughlen here &c.
Att Which day here Came the afd. Young Bailey Macloughlen by William Hayward
his Atty. and ye. sherriff to wit John Dennis gentlemen now here Returned that
he had taken ye. afd. John Covington whose Body here at this day he had ready
to Answer ye. aforesaid John Covington of ye. afd. plea as to him it was Command
ed
Whereupon ye. said John Covington at ye. Prayer of ye. afd. Young Bailey Maclouglen
is adjudged to give special Bail to ye. Action afd.
                                                                    Thereupon A Certain Levin
Ballard of Somerset gentleman Present here in Court in his Proper Person
undertook for ye. said John Covington that if it should happen that Judgment in
ye. Plea afd. should be rendered for ye. said Young Bailey against ye. afd. John or that
he ye. said John should be therein Convict that then he ye. said John Should pay
and satisfie unto ye. afd. Young Bailey ye. Judgment of ye. Court Thereupon or render
his Body in Execution of Such Judgment to ye. Prison of ye. Sherriffe of ye. County
aforesaid in satisfaction thereof or that he ye. said Levin Ballard will do ye.
same for him &c.
Whereupon ye. said John Covington puts in his place Samuel Wilson gentleman Atty at
Law agt. ye. aforesaid Young Bailey Macloughlen in ye. aforesaid Plea &c.
And thereupon at ye. Prayer of ye. Parties aforesaid day is to them here now Given
untill next Court to be held at Princes Ann Town ye. third Tuesday of June then next
following in ye. State that now Saveing to ye. Parties aforesaid &c.
Att Which day here Came ye. Parties aforesaid by their Attorneys aforesaid and hereupon
the Said Young Bailey Macloughlin Complained against ye. aforesaid John Covington
in ye. Plea afd. in form following
Somerset fst John Covington Late of Somerset County Planter was Attached to
Answer unto Young Bailey Macloughlin of a plea wherefore with force and
