Somerset County fs^t Whereas Josiah Phillips is this Day Charged before me y^e. Subscriber
           One of his Lordships Justices of y^e. peace for y^e. County of Somerset having begot
{seal}    a Bastard Child on y^e. Body of Margaret Dunkin She having made oath
           that y^e. af^d. Josiah Phillips did beget the child she is Charged so as aforesaid
These are therefore in his Lordships name to Command you to take the Body of y^e.
aforesaid Josiah Phillips and Cause him to appear before me or Some other of his
Lordships Justices of y^e. peace for y^e. County af^d. to answer y^e. Charge as af^d. and for
so doing this Shall be Your warrant given under my hand & Seal this first day of

Whereupon y^e. aforesaid George Brown Cunstable of y^e. Hundred aforesaid after:
:wards to wit, the fifth Day of Aprill in the year of our Lord one thousand seven
hundred and Sixty at y^e. County aforesaid returned to me that he had taken y^e. Body of
y^e. aforesaid Josiah Phillips & had him there ready to answer y^e. Charge aforesaid a^gt.
him made    Thereupon the said Josiah Phillips being by me Asked whether he of
the Charge af^d. was guilty and said that he Could not deny but that he was thereof
guilty Thereupon y^e. said Josiah for his offence af^d. was by me fined thirty Shillings
Current money of Maryland which he said he Could not pay Down but was willing
to give Sec^ry agreeable to Act of Assembly in Such Case made and provided Whereupon
the said Josiah Phillips was by me ordered to give Security to keep y^e. Justices of Somerset
County aforesaid harmless from all Costs trouble or Expences that they or their
Successors Shall or may be put to by means of y^e. Birth and Maintainance of y^e.
aforesaid Bastard Child Thereupon y^e. aforesaid Josiah Phillips together with
Thomas Phillips his Security did acknowledge themselves to owe and be Indebted
unto his Lordship y^e. right Hon^rble y^e. Lord prop^ry in y^e. Sum of fifty pounds Current
money of Maryland of their and Each of their Bodies goods and Chattles Lands and
Tenements for y^e. use of y^e. said Lord Prop^ry his heirs and Successors to be made & levied in
Case y^e. said Josiah Phillips do not from time to time & at all times hereafter save
harmless and keep Indemnified y^e. Justices of Somerset County from all Costs
trouble and Expence that they or their Successors Shall or may be put to By means
of y^e. Birth & maintainance of y^e. af^d. Child
