@	Honrble the Lord Propry that now is who for the Same Lord Propry in this part prosecuteth doth
Eliza. Pettat	Came hereinto the County Court of the Same Lord Propry held for Somerset County to wit at Princes

Ann Town in the Same County the XXI day of June in the Year of our Lord One thousand Seven hundred
Sixty three Before Sampson Wheatly Esq^r and others his Associates the Said Lord Prop^ry his Justices
of the Same County Court and for the Same Lord Prop^ry doth Give the Same Justices here to understand and be
Informed that Elizabeth Pettut Late of Coventry Parish in the Said County of Somerset the XIV day of
June in the Year of our Lord One thousand Seven hundred Sixty and Two at the Parish af^d. in the County af^d.
within the Jurisdiction of this Court did Commit fornication with a Certain person unknown and did permit
the Same unknown person to have Carnal Knowledge of her body and a Bastard Child on the body of her
the said Elizabeth then and there to beget to the high displeasure of Almighty God to the Evil
Example of all others in Such Case offending Contrary to the peace of the Said Lord Prop^ry that now is his
Good Rule and Government and Against the form of the Act of Assembly in Such Case made and
Provided and So forth    And Whereupon the Same Attorney of the Same Lord Prop^ry for the Lord
Prop^ry prays Advice of the Court herein the premisses and that due process of Law may in this part
be made Against the Said Elizabeth to Answer of and upon the premisses and So forth
           Thereupon it is Commanded the Sheriff of Somerset County that he Should Take the Said
Elizabeth Pettit if &^c. to Answer &^c.       And Now to witt at a Court of his Lordship held at Princes
Ann Town the third Tuesday of June Anno Dom. 1763 before the Justices thereof Came as well the af^d
George Hayward Gen^t his Lordships Attorney who for his Said Lordship in this part Prosecuteth as the af^d.
Elizabeth Pettit in her Proper Person and had a hearing of the Information af^d. Siath that She Cannot
Deny but that She is Guilty of the Premisses in the Information af^d. above Specified Upon her
Imposed in Manner and form as by the Indictment af^d. Above Against her Supposed and Maketh
Oath that Thomas Handy is the father of the Child She Stands Informed Against for and is
willing to pay her fine for the Same &^c.    Whereupon all and Singular the Premisses being Seen &
by the Court fully understood it is Considered by the Court here that the af^d. Eliz^a. Pettit for the
Offence af^d. Specified be taken which Said Eliz^a. Pettit Present herein Court as af^d. is fined for the
Offence af^d. the Sume of thirty Shillings Current Money which She paid to the Sheriff for the use
of the County &^c.
