Petitioner humbly prays your Worships would be pleas'd to exempt your petitioner from the Publick Tax

of the said Negroe and your petitioner as in Duty bound shall ^ pray    Aaron Tilghman
Whereupon Came here into Court the afd. petitioner in his proper person & thereupon the petition afd. being
Read & Heard & fully understood it is Considered by the Court here that the afd. Negro Peter be tax free un
-till it please God to Restore him to Health and he be able to Labour

William Skirvin    To the worshipfull Justices of Somerset County Court now Judicially Sitting the petition of William
      Petn    Skervin humbly Sheweth that he hath a Negro Called Will Rendred altogether uncapable of
Labour Both by age as well as other infirmities therefore hope your Worships will set the afd. Negro Tax free &
your petitioner as in Duty Bound will every pray                                     William Skirvin

@    His Lordship the Lord propry directed his writt to the sheriff Close in these words Vizt

   Thos. Tyler bail of John    Somerset fst Frederick absolute & propry of ye provinces of Maryland and Avalon
Lord Baron of Baltimore &c To the sheriff of Somerset County greeting whereas a Certain Thomas Tyler Lately
in our County Court of Somerset held at princess Ann Town to witt the sixteenth Day of March Anno
Dom. one thousand seven hundred and sixty two before Isaac Handy Esqr and others his associates Justices
at princess Ann Town afd. undertook for a certain John Tyler Late of Somerset County planter otherwise call
-ed I John Tyler of Somerset County in the province afd. Waterman and the same John then and there present in the
same Court before our Said Justices assumed upon himself that if is should happen that he the afd. John in a certain
plea of Debt for fifty six pounds ten shillings Curt Money of Maryland against him by One Nicholas McCubbin
in the same Court before our Justices there Prosecuted and in a Lawfull Manner should be Convicted and Judge
-ment for the same Nicholas against the afd. John in the same Court should be rendred that then he the
same John the afd. Debt and also all the Damages as to him the said Nicholas by Occasion of the Deten
-tion of the afd. Debt against him the said John in our Same Court here should be assessed or in any man
-ner adjudged he would satisfy on his body in Execution to the prison of the sheriff of the County afd. in
Satsifaction of Such Judgement he would render or that the said Thomas Tyler would do the same
for him and altho the afd. Nicholas afterwards to wit the seventeenth Day of August and Year afd. in
our Same Court before the afd. Isaac Handy and his associates then our Justices of our County Court of So
-merset held at princess Ann Town afd. and by Consideration of the same Court Recovered against the afd.
John Tyler as well the afd. Debt of Fifty six pounds ten shillings Curt Money of Maryland as
three Hundred and forty seven pounds of Tobacco which to the same Nicholas in Our Same Court were
adjudged for his Damages which had by Occasion of the Detention of the same Debt whereof he is convict
as by the Record and proceedings thereof in Our Same Court before our Justices at princess Ann Town afd. now
Remaining manifestly appeareth Nevertheless the afd. John him the said Nicholas the Debt and Damages
afd. hath not as yet Satisfied nor in now wise Rendred his body in Execution of Such Judgement for the debt
and Damages afd. to the prison of the sheriff of the County afd. according to the form and Effect of the Recognizance
afd. as by the Information of the same Nicholas in our Same Court we have Received and because we are wil
-ling that these things which in our Same Court are Rightly Done should be Duly Executed We Command
you by honest and Lawfull men of Your Bailywick you make known unto the said Thomas Tyler
that he be before our Justices at our Next Court to be held at princess Ann Town in and for the county afd.
the third tuesday of March then Next following to shew Cause if any thing for himself he hath or knew to say
why the said Nicholas Ought not to have his Execution Against him for his said Debt and Damages afd.
according to the force form and Effect of the Recognizance afd. if to him it shall seem Expedient and have you then
and there the names of them by whom to him you make known and this writt wittness Sampson Wheatly Esqr one of
our Justices of our Said Court the 20th Day of November in the 12th Year of our Dominion &c Anno Dom. 1762
