November Court 1762 194 Thereupon it is commanded the sheriff of somerset county that he should take the afd. Ann Lord if she should be found in his Baily -wick and her should safe keep so that he might have her body before the Justices of his Lordships county court of somerset to be held at princess Ann Town the third tuesday of November Anno Dom. one thousand seven hundred and sixty one to answer unto his said Lordship concerning the information afd. Att which day here came the afd. Ann Lord in her proper person and had a hearing of the Indictment afd. saith that she is not thereof Guilty and puts herself upon the country and George Hayward Gent his Lordships Attorney who for his said Lordship in this part prosecuteth likewise Thereupon it is commanded the sheriff of somerset county that he cause to come before his Lordships Justices of the next court to be held at princess Ann Town the third tuesday of March then next following twelve &c by whom &c and who &c to Recognize &c because &c Att which day here came as well George Hayward Gent his said Lordships Attorney who for his said Lordship in this part prosecuteth as the afd. Ann Lord in her proper person and the sheriff of the county afd. did not send thereof the writt &c Therefore as before it is commanded the sheriff of the county afd. that he cause to come before his Lordships Justices of the next court to be held at princess Ann Town the third tuesday of June then next following twelve &c by whom &c and who &c to Recognize &c because &c Att which day here came as well as well George Hayward Gent his said Lordships Attorney who for his said Lordship in this part prosecuteth as the afd. Ann Lord in her proper person and the sheriff of the county afd. did not send thereof the writt &c Therefore as before it is commanded the sheriff of somerset county that he cause to come before his Lordships Justices of the next Court to be held at princess Ann Town the third tuesday of August then next following twelve &c by whom &c and who &c to Recognize &c because &c Att which day here came as well George Hayward Gent his said Lordships Attorney who for his said Lord -ship in this part prosecuteth as the afd. Ann Lord in her proper person and the sheriff of the county afd. did not send thereof the writt &c Therefore as before it is commanded the sheriff of the county afd. that he cause to come before his Lordships Justi -ces of the next court to be held at princess Ann Town the third tuesday of November then next following twelve &c by whom &c and who &c to Recognize &c because &c Att which day here Came as well George Hayward Gent his Lordships Attorney who for his Said Lordship in this part prosecuteth as the afd. Ann Lord in her proper person and the Same Attorney of the Lord Proprietary Informed the Court here that the Testimony in order to Support the Information afd. Against the afd. Ann Lord is altogether Insufficient for that Purpose and that he will not further Prosecute the afd. Ann Lord on the Information afd. &c Thereupon it is Considered that the afd. Ann Lord be discharged of and from the Information afd. &c
the parish afd. in the county afd. in and upon a certain John Sterling Junr in the peace of God and the said Lord propry then and there being an assault did make and him the said John then and there did beat wound and Ill treat so that of his Life it was much dispaired and other harms to him the said John then and there did to the great damage of the said John and against the peace of his Lordship the Right Honble the Lord propry that now is his good Rule and Government and so forth Thereupon it is commanded the sheriff of Somerset county that Immediately he should take the afd. William Roach if he should be found in his Bailywick and him should safe keep so that he might have his body be -fore the Justices of his Lordships county court of somerset now sitting at princess Ann Town this Instant November to answer unto his said Lordship concerning the Indictment afd. &c And Afterwards in the Same Court Came the afd. William Roach in his proper person And had a hearing of the Indictment afd. Saith that he will not contend with his Lordship but for the saveing Costs La -bour and Expences about the premisses Submits himself at Fine with his said Lordship and puts himself upon favour of the Court &c Whereupon all and singular the premisses being Seen and by the court fully understood it is considered by the court here that the afd. William Roach for the offence afd. above mentioned be taken &c which said William Roach present here in court as afd. is fined for the premisses and offence afd. the sum of twenty shillings Curt Money which he paid to the sheriff for the use of his Lordship &c
the peace of God and the said Lord propry then and there being an assault did make and him the said John then & there did beat wound and Ill Treat so that of his Life |
