August Court 1762 176 The place that we are now at is at a point of woods Below where John Chrouch did Live at the mouth of a small gut Between the said Crouches and Isaac Shurman and the Tree is Still Lying on the ground and som marks to be seen on it at which place we Caused a Cedar post to be set up marked with Sixteen Notches The Deposition of John Jenkins aged forty three years or there about Being Sworn on the Holy Evangelist of Almighty God Deposeth and Sayeth that about Twenty two years by past he was a Crabbing a Long the Shore of Wicomoco River and Caut one near to where we now are and that he Walked Some Small distance from the place and met John Crouch who askt this Deponant where he Caut that Crab and he maid Answer by the old Cedar at the point and the said Crouch told this Deponant that that old Cedar was his first Bounder of his Land and this Deponant Sayeth that the Ceder Tree was then Lying at the Same place where it now Lyeth and further saith not John Jenkins The Cedar is the same that is mentioned in Pheby Disharoons Diposition where the Cedar post is sat up The Deposition of Benjamin Mitchell aged Forty four years or there about Being Sworn on the Holy Evangelist of Almighty God Deposeth and sayith that about nine years by past he was Fishing at a place Called the Shad point with one Charles Hill and they went on Shore on a point of Land or Island on the East Side of a small Creek Called Musley Creek and that Charles Hill kindeled up a fier to the Root of an Old Ceder Stump and while the Said Hill was kindling the fire Came John Chrouch to them and told them not to kindle their fire against that stump for that Cedar stump was his Second Bounder and they moved their fire and that the said Crouch at that time Lived on the Land Called Hogg Neck and further Saith not Benjamin Mitchell The Deposition of George Sharp aged thurty one years or there about Being Sworn on the Holy Evangelist of Almighty God Deposith and Sayeth that about Seven years by past he was Coming down wicomoco River with John Crouch from Joshua Porters and when they Came opasit to the point or Island mentioned in Benjamin Mitchells Deposition the Said Chrouch pointed to a Cedar Stump and told the Deponant that that stump was their Second bounder of their Land this Deponant owing part of that Tract of Land Called Hogg Neck at that time and further Sayith not George Sharpe We Caused the stump to be hewn and new marked with Sixteen notches |
