Execution of Such Judgment to the prison of the Sheriff of the County afd. in Satisfaction thereof or that they
the Said John Cox and Abraham Dean and Each of them will do the Same for him &c.
           And hereupon the Said William Figgs puts in his place George Hayward Gent Attorney at Law
Against the afd. John Dennis of the afd. plea
        And thereupon at the prayer of the parties afd. day is to them now here Given untill next Court to
be held at Princes Ann Town the third Tuesday of August then next following in the State that now
Saveing to the parties afd. &c    Att which day here Came the parties afd. by their Attorneys afd. And hereupon the
Said John Complained Against the afd. William in the plea afd. in form following
Somerset fst William Figgs Late of Somerset County Planter Was Attached to Answer unto John Dennis of
A plea of trespass upon the Case and So forth       And Whereupon the Said John by William Hayward his
Attorney Complains that whereas the Said William Figgs on the Nineteenth day of June in the Year of our
Lord One thousand Seven hundred Sixty and One at Somerset County afd. did Make his Certain note in
Writing Called a promissary note with his proper hand Subscribed bearing date the Same day and Year Last
Mentioned and the note afd. to the Said John then and there did deliver by which note the Said William Figgs
did promise to pay unto the Said John or his Order the Sum of Eight pounds Nine Shillings and Nine pence Curt.
Money of Maryland on Demand for Value Recd. by Reason thereof as also by Virtue of the Statute in that Case
made and provided the Said William Figgs became Liable to pay unto the Said John the Said Sum of Eight
pounds Nine Shillings and Nine pence Curt Money afd. According to the tenor of the Said Note and So
being Chargeable the afd. William Figgs afterwards to wit the AAA Nineteenth day June in the Year of our Lord
One thousand Seven hundred Sixty and One at Somerset County afd. upon himself did Assume and to the
Said John then and there faithfully promise to pay the Sum of Money afd. According to the tenor of the Said
Note Nevertheless the Said William Figgs his promise and Assumption afd. in form afd. made Little
Regarding but plotting and fraudulently Intending the Said John in that part Craftily and Subtilly to deceive and defraud the
afd. Sum of Eight pounds Nine Shillings and Nine pence Curt. Money afd. to the afd. John hath not paid nor him in
Any Sort Contented Altho he the Said William Figgs was thereunto often Required but the Same to the Said
John hath Refused And Still doth Refuse to the great Damage of him the Said John Whereupon he Says
that he is Worse and hath Damage to the Value of twenty pounds Curt. Money of Maryland and thereof he brings
Suit and So forth                                                                               Pledges &c. J: Doe & R: Roe
And the afd. William Figgs by his Attorney afd. Comes and defends the force and Injury when &c. And Saith that
he Cannot deny the Action afd. of the afd. John Dennis nor but that he did Assume upon himself in Manner
And form as the afd. John Above Against him hath Complained and as to the damage of the Same John by
him by Occasion of the premisses in that part Sustained the Same William Saith and Acknowledgeth that
the afd. John hath Sustained Damages by Occasion of the premisses beyond his Costs and Charges by him
About his Suit in that part Apposed to Eight pound Nine Shillings and Nine pence Curt Money and not
More and because the afd. John Denys not this but the Same Allegation Grants to be true prays Judgment for
those Damages Above Acknowledged together with his Costs and Charges afd. to him to be Adjudged
        Therefore by Consent of the parties afd. it is Considered that the afd. William John Dennis Recover
Against the afd. William Figgs his Damages afd. to the afd. Eight pound Nine Shillings and Nine pence
Curt Money by the Same William in form afd. Acknowledged as also
210 :                        Pounds of Tobacco for his Costs and Charges afd. to the Same John at his Request by the Court
now here of the Assent of the parties afd. Adjudged which Certain Damages in the Whole Amount to Eight
Pound Nine Shillings and Nine pence Curt Money and
Pounds of Tobacco and the afd. William in Mercy &c

@    Command was Given to the Sheriff of Somerset County that he Should Take William
WH    Wm. Baly    Baly Late of Somerset County planter if he Should be found in his Bailywick and him Should
Safe keep so that he might have his body before the Justices of his Lordships County Court of Somerset to be
held at Princes Ann Town the third Tuesday of June Anno Dom. 1762 to Answer unto James Mills and
John Eden of A plea of trespass upon the Case &c. And the Same day is Given to the afd. William here &c.
