of Twenty One Years the Said Hovington to Serve his Said Master the full term afd. during which term the Said Apprentice his Said Master well and faithfully he Shall Serve his Secrets keep his Commandments Lawfully and honestly everywhere willingly he Shall doe and in all things as a good and faithfull Apprentice he Shall demean himself towards his Said Master and all his during the term afd. In Consideration of which Service the Said Joseph Venables present here in Court in his Proper Person Covenanteth with the Justices of the Same Court in Court Judicially Sitting in Manner And form following that is to Say that he the Said Joseph Venables Shall and will during the term afd. Learn his Said Apprentice the trade of a Blacksmith and to Read Write and Cypher as far as the Rule of three Inclusive and at the Expiration of his Servitude Give him a New Likewise find and Provide for his Said Apprentice Meat drink washing Lodging and Cloathing Sufficient for Such an Apprentice to have and wear during the term afd. Whereupon the Said Joseph Venables is Ordered to Give Security to Comply with the Covenants afd. Thereupon the Said Joseph Venables with Samuel Wilson and Benjamin Venables of Somerset County Gent his Securitys all present herein Court in their Proper Persons Acknowledged themselves Indebted unto the afd. Hovington Nichols in the Sum of thirty Pounds Curt Money of Maryland of their bodys Goods or Chattles Lands and tenements Joyntly and Severally to the use of the Said Hovington Nichols his heirs and Assigns to be made and Levied if it happen that the Said Joseph Venables do not during the term afd. Learn his Said Apprentice the trade of a Blacksmith and to Read Write and Cypher as far the Rule of three Inclusive and at the Expiration of his Servitude do not Give him a New Coat and breeches of Broad Cloath over and Above his Common wearing Cloaths and do not Likewise find and provide for his Said Apprentice meat drink washing Lodging and Cloathing Sufficient for Such an Apprentice to have and wear during the term afd. &c
Whereupon the Said Joseph Venables is ordered by the Court here to take into his Care and Possession the afd. Hovington Nicholson and all his Estate personall and it is further Ordered that a Certain William Tully deliver up unto the afd. Guardian all the Estate of the afd. Orphan of whatsort Soever that he hath in his hands and possession and that of Right doth belong unto the afd. Orphan And that the afd. Guardian Give Good Security to Comply with the Law in Relation to Such Guardianship as afd. and to deliver up unto the afd. Orphan his heirs Exrs. or Admrs. all his Estate Real and personall that he Shall take into his hands and possession peaceably and Quietly whenever the Same Should be Legally Required Whereupon the Said Joseph Venables together with Samuel Wilson and Benjamin Venables of Somerset County Gent his Securitys all present herein Court in their proper persons Acknowledged themselves Indebted unto the afd. Hovington Nicholson in One hundred pounds Curt Money of Maryland of their bodys Goods or Chattles Lands and tenements Joyntly and Severally to the use of the Said Orphan his heirs or Assigns to be made and Levied if it happen that |
