@	We the Grand Jury for the body of Somerset County upon Our Oath do present a Certain
Sarah Bowen	Sarah Bowing (formerly named Sarah Ballard) Late of Somerset Parish that the Said Sarah

Bowing did bear a Bastard Child Against the form of the Act of Assembly in Such Case made and provided
and So forth                                                                             William Fleming foreman
Thereupon it is Commanded the Sheriff of Somerset County that he Should Take the Said Sarah Bowing
aboves^d if She Should be found in his Bailywick and her Should Safe keep so that he might have her body
before the Justices of his Lordships County Court of Somerset to be held at Princes Ann Town the third
Tuesday of March Anno Dom. 1762 to Answer unto his Said Lordship of and Concerning the Presentment af^d.
           Att which day here Came the af^d. Sarah Bowen in her proper person and had a hearing of the Presentment
af^d. Saith that She Cannot deny but that She is Guilty of the Premisses in the Presentment af^d. Above upon
her Imposed in Manner and form as by the Presentment af^d. Above Against her Supposed but will not declare
the father of the Bastard Child af^d. but is Willing to pay her fine for the Same According to Act of Assembly
in Such Case Provided &^c    Whereupon all and Singular the premisses being Seen and by the Court fully
understood it is Considered by the Court here that the af^d. Sarah Bowen for the premisses and offence af^d. Specified
be taken which said Sarah Bowen is fined for the offence af^d. the Sum of three pounds Cur^t Money which She paid
to the Sheriff for the use of the County af^d.    Whereupon the Said Sarah Bowen is ordered to Give Security to Save &
keep Indemnified the Justices of Somerset County from all Costs Charges and Troubles that may Accrew by means
of the Birth of the Bastard Child af^d. Thereupon a Certain Joseph Read of Somerset County planter present
here in Court in his proper person undertook for the Said Sarah Bowen and Acknowledged himself to be held and
firmly bound unto His Lordship the Lord Prop^ry in twenty Pounds Cur^t Money of Maryland of His body Goods
and Chattles Lands and tenements to be made and Levied if it happen that the Said Sarah doth not Save
and keep Indemnified the Justices of Somerset County Court from all Costs Charges and troubles that may
Accrew by means of the Birth of the Bastard Child af^d. &^c

@	Body of Somerset County upon their Oath Present that Jabez Pitt Late of Coventry Parish in the
Jabez Pitt	County afd. Gent on the thirtieth day of October in the Year of our Lord one thousand Seven hundred

and Sixty One with force and Arms at the Parish af^d. in the County af^d. in and upon a Certain Sarah Tomlinson
in the peace of God and the Said Lord Prop^ry then and there being an Assault did make and him the Said Sarah
then and there did beat wound and Evilly treat so that of his Life it was much dispaired and other Harms to her
the Said Sarah then and there did to the Great Damage of the Said Sarah And Against the Peace of his Said
Lordship the Right Hon^rble the Lord Prop^ry that now is his Good Rule and Government and So forth
      Thereupon it is Commanded the Sheriff of Somerset County that he Should Take the Said
