Presume to Offend in the Abuse of Weights or Measures Against the Acts of Assembly for the Common Good and
Profit now in this Province made and used also of the Sheriffs Bailiffs Constables and other Officers who have or
Shall hereafter Misbehave themselves in the Execution of their Offices or have been Remiss or Negligent in
the Execution thereof or Shall hereafter happen So to be within our County Aa and of all and Every the Articles
Matters and things Whatsoever howsoever or by Whomsoever in our County afd. done or Committed or that Shall
hereafter happen to be done or Committed Concerning the Premisses or Any of them and to Inspect all
Indictments before you or Any of you taken or to be taken or before our Late Justices of the peace within our
Said County had and taken and not Yet determined and Process thereon Against all or Any person or persons So
indicted or which Shall hereafter happen to be Indicted within our County afd. to make and Continue untill
they Shall be taken or Surrender themselves or be Outlawed and to hear and determine all and Every the Felonies
Petty Treasons Murders Rapes upon White Women Wilfull buring of any Dwelling house or outhouse
Contiguous to and used with Any Dwelling house or any other Outhouse wherein there Shall be any person
or Any Goods or Merchandizes Tobacco Indian Corn or Fodder and all other Capital Offences done or perpetrated by
Any Negro or other Slave and Likewise all Consulting Advising and Conspiring of Negroes and other Slaves
to Rebell or Rase any Insurrections as to murder or poison any person or to Ravish any white Woman or
to Attempt to burn any Dwelling house or Outhouse Contiguous to or used therewith trespasses forestallings
Rogratings Riots Indictments and all other the Matters afd. According to the Laws Customs and directions of
the Acts of Assembly afd. So far forth as they Provide and Where they are Silent According to the Laws
Statutes and Reasonable Customs of England as used and Practised within this Province and the Said Delinquents
and Every of them to Chastise and Punish by fines Ransoms Amerciaments forfeitures and Otherwise
According to the Laws Customs and Directions of the Acts of Assembly afd. So far forth as they provide and
where they are Silent According to the Laws Statutes and Reasonable Customs of England as used and
practised within this Province but we will not that you Proceed in Any of the Cases afd. to take Life or
Member Except of Negroes and other Slaves but that in Every Such Case you Send the Prisoners with their
Indictments and the Whole Matters depending before you to our Justices of Assize Nisi prius and Goal
Delivery at the next Court of Oyer and Terminer to be held for our Said County be it Whensoever or
Wheresoever to be holden there to be tried And We Command you and Every of You diligently to intend the
keeping the peace Acts of Assembly Laws Customs and Statutes afd. and all and Every the Premisses and
that at your County Courts you make Inquisition and hear and determine as afd. doing therein what to
Justice Appertains According to the Laws Customs and Directions of the Acts of Assembly afd. So far forth
as they Provide and Where they are Silent According to the Laws Statutes and Reasonable Customs of
England as used and Practised within this Province and further we do Constitute Ordain and Appoint
You the Said Benjamin Tasker, Charles Hammond, Samuel Chamberlain, Phillip Thomas, Edward Lloyd
Richard Lee Benedict Calvert, Robert Jenkins Henry, Daniel Dulany Stephen Bordly, John
Ridout Isaac Handy, Sampson Wheatly, Joseph Gilliss, Ephraim Wilson Samuel Adams William
Winder, Ephraim King George Gale Jur & Thomas Jones or Any three or more of You as afd. to Issue out
Writts Precepts Process and Attachments and hold plea of all Actions Popular and of all Actions
Personall of Whatsort Soever wherein the Demand doth not Exceed the Sum of One hundred pounds
Sterling or thirty thousand Pounds of tobacco and all Actions Personall now depending before you and
After Judgment Execution to Award in all Such Cases and Actions afd. According to the Laws Customs and
Directions of the Acts of Assembly afd. So far forth as they Provide and Where they are Silent According to
the Laws Statutes and Reasonable Customs of England as used and Practised within this Province in
which Said Actions So to be tried we do Constitute Ordain and Appoint You the Said Benjamin Tasker
Charles Hammond, Samuel Chamberlain, Phillip Thomas, Edward Lloyd, Richard Lee, Benedict Calvert,
Robert Jenkins Henry, Daniel Dulany, Stephen Bordly, John Ridout, Isaac Handy Sampson Wheatly
