CHAPTER 82

An act for the relief of Matthias Dashiell late Sheriff and
Collector of Somerset County

Passed Feb. 13, 1835

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
Matthias Dashiell, late sheriff and collector of Somerset
county, be, and he is hereby authorised and empowered, to
collect and receive all and any balance or amount of officers
fees, chancery taxes, and fines and forfeitures, and county
taxes, which may be due to the said Dashiell, in the same
manner and with the same power and privileged as are allow
ed bylaw, and in the same manner and to the same effect
as if the term of office of the said Dashiell, as sheriff and

collector as aforesaid, had not yet expired provided, that if
any person against whom there is a claim by said Dashiell,
for officers fees, chancery taxes, fines and forfeitures, or
county taxes as aforesaid, shall make affidavit before any
justice of the peace of said county, that he or she believes
the same to be unjust, or that the same had been paid at any
previous trine, to the person claiming the same, it shall for
ever bar such claim Provided also, that nothing in this act
shall be construed to affect the estate of any deceased per
son and provided also, that this act shall only continue in
force for one year from its passage

CHAPTER 83

Proviso

An act relating to the Trial of Ejectment Causes, in this
State

Passed Feb. 13 1835

WHEREAS, under the laws of this State, the citizen ban
only be sued, in the first instance, in the county in which he
resides, but this provision has never been fully applied to
the trial of actions of Ejectment for lands lying partly in one
county and partly in another, Wherefore

Preamble

Section 1 Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Ma-
ryland, That after the passage of this act, none of the
courts of this State shall entertain or try any action of eject
ment, for the recovery of the possession of any tract of land
lying partly in one county and partly in another being en-
tirely in possession of a citizen residing in one of said court
