generally, to do and execute all such acts, matters and
things, as to them it shall or may appertain to do.
Sec. 3. And be it enacted, That the objects for which
this company is incorporated, rs hereby declared to be, to
guard and protect property endangered by fire, or any other
cause.
Sec. 4. And be it enacted, That the power is hereby
reserved to the General Assembly, to repeal, alter, or
amend this act, whenever and so often as they may deem
proper.

An act to Divorce Rosanna Artinson, of Washington County,
from her husband, Eh Artinson.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Rosanna Artinson, of Washington county, be,
and she is hereby divorced from bed, board, and mutual co-
habitation with her husband, Eh Artinson.

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That the said Eli Artinson
shall not be liable for any debt to be hereafter contracted
by the said Rosanna Artinson, nor be entitled to any pro-
perty or estate which she may hereafter acquire.

WHEREAS, it has been represented to this General As-
sembly, that the irregular construction of the work shops
of the Maryland Penitentiary, which were originally planned
only in reference to ordinary manufacturing purposes; then
scattered location and division into numerous apartments,
render the necessary constant supervision of the convrct,
during the hours of labor, impracticable; And whereas, it
is the disposition of the State to furnish the Penitentiary
with the further and final means necessary to complete the
