be, transmit, by mail, a return of any alterations made as
aforesaid, to the Adjutant General's office, to be therein. re-
corded, and the several commanding officers of regiments,
extra battalions, and squadrons, shall convene, irom time
to time, as may be necessary, the commanding officers of

squadrons, at some convenient place and time, to be by
them severally appointed, who, or a majority of them, when

AND WHEREAS, changes have taken place in the popu
lation since the arrangement of the militia into districts was
made, as aforementioned, rt shall be the duty of the major

severally required, under a penalty of two hundred dollars
each, to order a meeting of the brigadier generals, within
