be, transmit, by mail, a return of any alterations made as
aforesaid, to the Adjutant General's office, to be therein. re-
corded, and the several commanding officers of regiments,
extra battalions, and squadrons, shall convene, irom time

companies, in their respective regiments, batalions or
squadrons, at some convenient place and time, to be by
them severally appointed, who, or a majority of them, when
