CHAP 231,

Oath required
Salary

his discretion, appoint and remove at pleasure, either one
or two clerks to assist him in the discharge of his dudes,
any thing in the third section of the said original act, to the
contrary notwithstanding Provided always, that each clerk,
before he acts as such, shall take the oath therein directed,
Sec 2 And be it enacted, That the salary by the fourth
section of the said original acf, provided for the compensa-
tron of his clerk, may by the said treasurer be paid to such
one or two clerks as he shall employ, and m such propor-
tions as to him shall seem proper

An act to provide for completing a New Map and Geological
Survey of this State

Section 1 Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Ma-
ryland, That the act of the General Assembly, entitled an
act to provide for making a new and complete map and a
geological survey'of this state, passsed at December session,
eighteen hundred and thirty three, chapter one hundred and
thirty eight, shall be and the same is hereby re enacted, to
continue in force until the objects thereof are accomplished
Sec 2 And be it enacted, That the contingent expenses
of the surveys directed by this act, shall be adjusted and al-
lowed by the Governor and Council, and paid out of any
money in the Treasury not otherwise appropriated

CHAPTER 231

An act to establish a Market and build a Market House in
the Town of Cumberland, in Allegany County, and for
the regulation of the same

WHEREAS, the erecting of a Market House in the Town
of Cumberland will be attended with great convenience to
the inhabitants thereof, and to the inhabitants of Allegany
county, and other adjacent counties, and the same has been
prayed for by the petition of a large number of subscribers
living in said town, Therefore —
