CHAPTER 164

An act to provide for the repair and improvement of a por-
tion of the Public Road in Worcester County,

Passed Mar 10 1835

Section 1 Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Ma
ryland. That John C Dirickson, John L B Robins, Wil-
liam Showell, Peter Whaley and Zadok P Henry, be and
they are hereby appointed commissioners to superintend
the repair and improvement of a portion of the public road
in the third election district in Worcester county, between
the road gate of Ezekiel W. Clow's and a post standing at
the corner of the fence or farm of said Clow's on the road
leading from the said gate to the Town of Berlin

Commissioners

Sec. 2 And be it enacted, That the said commissioners
or a majority of them, shall have power to employ any per-
son or persons to repair and improve said portion of the
public road in such manner as they, the said commissioners or
a majority of them may think most proper for the public safety
and convenience and allow the person or persons employed
to repair or improve the aforesaid portion of road, such
compensation as they in their judgement may think proper,
Provided, such repair or improvement shall not exceed the
sum of forty dollars

Sec 3 And be it enacted, That after the said repairs and
improvements shall have been completed the commissioners
or a majority of them, shall deliver the said portion of road
up to the Levy court of Worcester county, to be kept by
them in repair as other roads are in said county

Sec 4 And be it enacted, That the Levy court of Wor-
cester county, shall be and they are hereby authorised and
required at the first annual levy made after the passage of
this act, to levy upon the assessable properly of said county
the sum of forty dollars, which sum or so much thereof as
may be allowed by the aforesaid commissioners, for there
pair and improvement of said portion of road, as soon as
collected shall be paid to the said commissioners or a ma-
jority of them, or any person or persons, who a majority of
said commissioners may authorise to receive the same, in
payment for said repair or improvement of said portion of
road
