Sec 11 And be it enacted, That nothing herein contain
ed, shall be taken or construed to authorise said Company
to issue any negotiable note, or notes payable to bearer, or
note in the nature of a Bank note

CHAPTER 153

An act to authorise the building a Bridge, over Choptank
River, to Caroline County

WHEREAS, it is represented to this General Assembly,
by petition, that the citizens of Caroline County labor
under great inconvenience, for the want of a Bridge across
Choptank River, at the overgoing, commonly called the
Red Bridge, — Therefore,

Passed Mar 7 1835

Section 1 Be it enacted by the. General Assembly of Ma-
ryland, That the Levy Court of Caroline County, (should
they, the said Court, deem it right and proper so to do, and
not otherwise, ) be, and they are hereby authorised to levy
on the taxable property in said county a sum not exceeding

two hundred dollars, which shall stand to the credit of
George Reed, Samuel Culbreth, John M Minner, Thomas
Wyatt, and Hooper D Hudson, who are hereby appointed
commissioners to superintend the building of said Bridge,
a majority of whom shall constitute a board for the transac-
tion of business, and who are hereby authorised to fix upon
a plan, the length and width, as also the size of the timber
to be employed in the erection of said Bridge, as well as
the thickness of the flooring, &c

Sec 2 And be it enacted, That the commissioners nam-
ed in the first section of this act, be, and they are hereby
authorised to contract for the building of said Bridge in a
particular manner, the work to be well executed, and to be
approved and received by said commissioners, when done;
and the said commissioners shall, on the completion of the
said Bridge, agreeably to contract, give an order on the col
lector, for the amount contracted tor, not exceeding the
sum of two hundred dollars

Sec 3 And be it enacted, That in case any of the com-
missioners should die, remove, refuse or neglect to act, then
