            THOMAS KING CARROLL, ESQ. GOVERNOR.                                                                                                                1829.

    Sec. 6.  And be it enacted, That the said trustees and their
successors, or a majority of them, shall meet at least twice in
every year, in stated semi-annual meetings, to be appointed by
their own ordinances, and at such other times as by their said
ordinances, or by their own adjournments they may direct;
and when so assembled, they shall have power from time to
time to appoint a President, Treasurer and Secretary, to make
contracts with the professors or teachers, relative to the instruction
of the scholars to be placed under their care, and for
the payment of their salaries; to examine the progress of the
students and scholars in their learning, to hear and determine
on all complaints and appeals, and upon all matters touching
the discipline and government of the said Academy, and the
execution of their ordinances; and generally to manage the estate
and concerns of the said Seminary in such manner as they
shall deem best for the advancement and advantage of the institution.
  CHAP. 173.  


Meetings—officers.
   Sec. 7.  And be it enacted, That the act entitled, " an act to
incorporate the trustees of the New Market Academy in Dorchester
county," passed at December session, eighteen hundred
and eighteen, chapter one hundred and thirty-five, be,
and the same is hereby repealed.

                                        CHAPTER 174.

An act to incorporate the Roman Catholic Congregation, worshipping
    at Christ's Roman Catholic Church near Westminster,
   in Frederick county.



Passed Feb. 26, 1830.
    WHEREAS, the members of the religious society of Roman
Catholics, belonging to the congregation worshipping at the
Roman Catholic church near Westminster, in Frederick county,
have, by their petition to this General Assembly, prayed
that a law might pass to incorporate them, and to enable them
to manage the temporalities of their church, as other religious
societies within this state have been enabled to do; and praying
that a devise to the use of their said church, which is in
the said petition set forth, and which is hereinafter mentioned,
might be ratified and made good and valid in law; and it appearing
reasonable that the prayer of said petition be granted,
Preamble.
    Section 1.  Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the members of the religious society of Roman
Catholics, belonging to the congregation worshipping at the
Roman Catholic church near Westminster, in Frederick county,
from and immediately after the passage of this act, shall
be and they are hereby erected into and declared to be one
body politic and corporate, indeed and in law, by the name,
style and title of the Trustees of Christ's Roman Catholic
Corporate powers
granted.
