  CHAP. 170.  

Compensation.
    Sec. 4.  And be it enacted, That the said stockholders may
allow to the said trustees, such compensation as in their judgment
they may deem fair and reasonable.
    School tax relinquished.
    Sec. 5.  And be it enacted, That the state tax of twenty
cents in the hundred dollars, be, and the same is hereby relinquished
by the state, and the said Bank released from the further
payment of the same.

                                        CHAPTER 171.

An act to provide for the support of Schools in Queen Annes
    County, and to withdraw the funds from the Centreville
    Academy.

School fund—how
disposed of.











Proviso.
    Section 1.  Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the interest of the funds, placed under the direction
of the commissioners of the school fund, for Queen Annes
county, by the act passed December session eighteen hundred
and twenty-eight, chapter thirty-five, and the sums they are
authorised by the said act to receive annually, from the Treasurer
of the western shore, instead of being divided equally
among the Primary School Districts of said county, as directed
by said act, shall be applied to the education of youth
in the different schools of said county, according to the direction
of said commissioners; Provided, that the sums payable
to the commissioners of Primary Schools, for each Primary
School, as directed by the act aforesaid, shall be equal
to the highest sum allowed by the said commissioners of the
school fund to any other school in said county.
    Donation to academy
withdrawn
and applied.
    Sec. 2.  And be it enacted, That after the expiration of the
present year the sum payable annually by the Treasurer of
the western shore to the trustees of the Academy in Centreville,
shall be withdrawn from said Academy, and be paid annually
by the said treasurer, to the commissioners of the
school fund for said county, to be applied in like manner as
the sums aforesaid to the support of Primary and other schools
in said county.
Future dividends
of School Fund.
    Sec. 3.  And be it enacted, That upon the apportionment
among the different counties of this state, of the dividends
which have accrued, or may hereafter accrue, on the bank
stock pledged for purposes of education, the treasurer of the
Western Shore is hereby authorised and directed to pay annually
to the commissioners of the school fund, for Queen
Ann's county, such portion of the said dividends as may belong
to said county, and the said commissioners shall apply
the same as they are directed to apply [to] the other sums mentioned
in this act to the support of the Primary and other
schools aforesaid.
