terest or estate, which the county aforesaid has in and to
the said alms and work-house establishment before mention-
ed; and the justice as aforesaid, or a majority of them,
shall be authorised, empowered, required and directed, to
contract and receive, for and on behalf of the county afore-
said, a good, ample and sufficient deed or deeds of bargain
and sale, in fee simple, from the seller of the land and pro-
perty intended to be purchased by this act.

CHAP. 96.

Sec. 6. And be it enacted, That the justices of the levy
court of said county, or a majority of them, be and they
are hereby authorised and empowered, to assess and levy
on all the assessable property in said county, at such time

ent, to the inhabitants of said county, to pay whatever de-
ficiency there may be over and above the monies arising
from the sale of the old alms or work-house establishment,
as is herein before provided for.

CHAP. XCVII.

An Act to authorise William Thomas, of Prince-George 's
County, to hold Real Estate.

Passed Mar 2, 1829

Sec. 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Ma-
ryland, That William Thomas, of Prince-George's county,
shall be and he is hereby authorised and enabled, to have,
hold, take, possess and enjoy, any lands, tenements, or
hereditaments, within this state, which he has acquired, or
may acquire, in the same manner and as fully as he might
have, hold, take, possess or enjoy the same, if he were a
naturalized citizen of the United States.

CHAP, XCVIII.
An Act to repeal an act, entitled, A Supplement to an

act, entitled, An act to prevent the unlawful expor-
tation of Negroes and Mulattoes, and to alter and
amend the Laws concerning Runaways, passed at
December session eighteen hundred and twenty-four,
chapter one hundred and seventy-one, and for other
purposes.

Passed Mar 3, 1829

Sec. 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Ma-

titled, An act to prevent the unlawful exportation of ne-
groes and mulattoes, and to alter and amend the laws con-
cerning runaways, passed at December session, in the year
eighteen hundred and twenty-four, chapter one hundred and
seventy-one, be and the same is hereby repealed.
