344 LAWS OF MARYLAND. [CH. 186

CHAPTER 186.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments. Section
205 of Article 17 of the Code of Public Local Laws of
Maryland, title "Prince George's County." sub-title
"Laurel," as enacted by Chapter 695 of the Acts of 1912
of the General Assembly of Maryland.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 205 of Article 17 of the Code of Public
Local Laws of Maryland, title "Prince George's County,"
sub-title "Laurel," as repealed and re-enacted by Chapter
695 of the Acts of 1912 of the General Assembly of Maryland,
be and the same is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with
amendments, to read as follows:

SECTION 205. If, during the term of said City Councilman
more than two vacancies occur in the City Council, the said
Board of Election Supervisors shall call a special election to
fill such vacancies, in accordance with the provisions of this
Act, without regard to whether said vacancies be caused by
removal from the town or from any other cause; but in the
event that not more than two vacancies occur in the City
Council at any one time the three remaining members of the
City Council shall fill the same by election of a duly qualified
person or persons, and in the event of such vacancy or vacan-
cies being ward councilmen a resident of such ward or wards
in which such vacancy or vacancies exist shall be elected; and
in the event of the absence from the town or the inability of
the Mayor for more than twenty-four hours, or in the event of
a vacancy in the office of Mayor the President of the City
Council shall act as Mayor until the Mayor shall return or
such inability shall cease, or until said office shall be filled at
the next regular election.

SECTION 2. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the first day of June, nineteen hundred and twenty.
