CHAPTER 168.
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact with amendments Section 6
of Article 77 of the Annotated Code of Maryland, title
"Public Education," sub-title "Formation of Boards,"
providing that the Board of Education of Somerset
County shall be composed of six members instead of
three.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 6 of Article 77 of the Annotated Code of
Maryland, title "Public Education," sub-title "Formation of
Boards," be and the same is hereby repealed and re-enacted
with amendments to read as follows:
6. County Boards of Education shall be composed in the
counties of Baltimore, Carroll, Frederick, Dorchester, Somer-
set, Washington and Montgomery of six members, and in each
of the other counties of three members, who shall be appointed
from the citizens of the county by the Governor for a term of
six years from the first Monday of May next succeeding their
appointment, and they shall hold office until their successors
qualify provided that in Somerset County the members of the
Board shall be appointed in the manner hereinafter described
from the following election districts of said county; one mem-
ber from Tangier, Damesquarter and St. Peters; one member
from Mt. Vernon, Princess Anne No. 1, and Princess Anne
No. 2; one member from Dublin, Westover and Fairmount;
one member from Brinkleys No. 1, Brinkleys No. 2 and Law-
sons; one member from Crisfield No. 1, Crisfield No. 2 and As-
bury; and one member from Deals Island and Smiths Island.
The terms of office of the present members of the Board in
Somerset County shall not be affected by the provisions of this
section. Of the three additional members to be appointed for
Somerset County, one shall be for a term of one year, one for
a term of three years, and one for a term of five years, so that
there shall be one regular vacancy and one regular appoint-
ment each year in said county. Provided that the terms of
office of persons who are members of the County Boards on
April 18, 1916, shall not be affected by its provisions; and
provided further in order that the length of the first six
regular appointments under this section in the counties of
Baltimore, Carroll, Frederick, Dorchester, Washington and
Montgomery, and the first three regular appointments in the
