from and after the first day of June, nineteen hundred and
twenty.

CHAPTER 147.

AN ACT to provide additional compensation to the judges,
whether acting as or sitting as officers of registration, and
clerks of election in Talbot County.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That all judges, whether acting as or sitting as officers
of registration, and all clerks of election in Talbot County,
shall be allowed the sum of one ($1.00) dollar per day for their
services as such judge or clerk in addition to the compensation
now allowed to said judges and clerks by. the Election Laws of
Maryland. The aforesaid compensation shall be paid by the
County Commissioners of Talbot Court as other election ex-
penses are required to be paid.

SECTION 2. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from and after June 1, 1920.

CHAPTER 148.

AN ACT to authorize the Commissioners of St. Michael's to
pave, curb and otherwise improve the streets, alleys and
highways in the town of St. Michael's, and to provide for
the payment of the same.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the Commissioners of St. Michael's be and they
are hereby, authorized and empowered to pave, curb and other-
wise improve the streets, alleys and highways of the town of
St. Michael's whenever the portion of the cost of such im-
provements to be paid by said Commissioners of St. Michael's
can be paid from any part of the general funds of the town
not required for other town expenses. The said Commission-
ers are hereby authorized to pay one-half of the cost of such
improvements out of said general fund, as above provided;
