City of Baltimore, in the State, such white female minor shall
thereafter be regarded as a proper charge against the State
at large.

CHAPTER 143.

AN ACT to increase the compensation of judges, registration
officials, and clerks of elections in Washington County.

WHEREAS, The increased cost of living has made the prespnt
compensation allowed election officials of Washington County
inadequate for the services rendered; and,

WHEREAS, Adequate compensation should be given for the
time given to the public duties; therefore

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That all judges of election and clerks of election of
Washington County, when actually sitting as judges of regis-
tration or election and as clerks of election respectively, shall
be allowed and paid five dollars ($5.00) a day; fractions of a
day shall be allowed and paid at the rate of fifty cents an
hour; and in all other respects Section 118 of Article 33 of
the Annotated Code of Public General Laws of Maryland, title
"Elections," sub-title "Compensation," shall remain in full
force and effect in Washington County.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the first day of June, 1920.

CHAPTER 144.

AN ACT to authorize and require the County Commissioners
of Baltimore County to make a special levy of not more
than twenty cents on each one hundred dollars of assess-
able real estate in the village of Lutherville, Baltimore
County, for the maintenance, upkeep and improvement
of roads and paths in said village, provided twenty or
more persons owning taxable real estate in said village
shall petition therefor.
