hides, machines, implements, or materials, belonging
to said company while constructing, or after the same
shall have been constructed, such person or persons so
offending shall on conviction thereof, be punished by
fine and imprisonment at the discretion of the county
Court of Washington county aforesaid, and shall also
be liable to the company injured to the extent of the
damage, provided that the said fine shall not exceed
the real damage sustained by said company, and the
period of said imprisonment shall not exceed six
months.

SEC. 6. And be it enacted, That if any of the privi-
leges hereby granted shall at any time be misused or
abused, the Legislature reserves the power to annul and
revoke all and singular the rights and privileges here-
by granted.

SEC. 7. And be it enacted, That it shall be lawful
for this State at any time after twenty five years, to
purchase, use, and take said road, and the works ap-
pertained thereto, by paying to the company which
shall have constructed the same, the original cost and
subsequent expenses thereof, with six per cent interest
thereon, deducting from the sum of principal and in-
terest, the profits or dividends which shall have accru-
ed thereon, and on payment or tender thereof to said
company, all and singular the road, property, rights
and privileges, acquired and held under this act by said
company, shall be vested in this State, and the corpo-
rate rights hereby granted to said company shall there-
upon cease.

SEC. 8. And be it enacted, That the Legislature of
Maryland shall at all times hereafter, have power to
charter any other company, with authority to construct
a Rail Road and to connect the same with the road au-
thorized to be constructed by this act, at any point
within the limits of this State.
