RESOLUTIONS.


No. 20.

Passed Feb. 18,
1837.

Resolution in favor of Sarah Jenkins.

Resolvedly the General Assembly of Maryland, That
the Treasurer of the Western Shore, be, and he is
hereby authorised to pay Sarah Jenkins, widow of
Philip Jenkins, or order, out of any unappropriated
money in the Treasury, the half pay of a private dur-
ing her life, as a further remuneration, for his services
during the revolution. ,

1B37.

Resolution in favor of Japes Cochran, a soldier of
the revolution.

Resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
the Treasurer of the Western Shore, be, and he is
hereby authorised and directed to pay to James Coch-
ran, or order, out of any unappropriated money in the
Treasury the half pay of a private during his life, as
a further remuneration for. his services during the
revolutionary war.

1837.

Resolutions relative to the Tariff Laws and the Public
Lands.

WHEREAS, frequent change in the revenue laws
often affect very seriously the business and prosperity
of the country; and whereas such, changes should not
be made, unless to get rid of an, acknowledged griev-
ance, as well as to anticipate a benefit :— Therefore,
Be it resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the Tariff Law of March the second, eighteen
hundred and. thirty-three, commonly called the com-
promise act, should be observed inviolate and in good
faith.
Resolved, That the public lands are the property of
