23 ~ [13 September 1692] Order of Governor Copley to collect Court records and bonds To the Sheriff of Somerset County or his Deputy. Maryland. By his Excl’ie the Capt. Gen’rl. Ordered that the Commissioners & Justices of the Peace in Each respective County within this Province, & Others their Ma’ties Officers therein authorized & appointed having in their Custody or possession any Bonds or Recognizances taken for the keeping of their Ma’ties Peace, & for the good behaviour or Otherwise of any person offending ag’t the Laws of England or of this Province, doe forthwith remitt the same to the Clerk of their County Courts by him to be carefully inspected, perused & examined, together with what other Bonds or Recogn’s are filed or taken in Court, & such of them as are already adjudged or forfeited, or become forfeitable for the breach of or noncomplyance with the same, together with a true & exact acc’t of all such forfeitures & Amerciam’ts in their respective County Courts, since the late Revolution. The said respective Clerks are to transmitt to me & their Ma’ties Counsel att the Citty of St. Maries with all convenient speed, whereof lett them not fail at their peril. And hereof let publick Proclamation be made by the respective Sheriffs of this Province in the most publick and convenient places within the respective Counties. Given under my hand & seal this ninth day of August Anno Domini 1692 in the 4th year of our Sovereign Lord & Lady King William & Queen Mary.
