65 ~ Moses Fenton, Pltf, vs. William Henderson, sawyer, Deft. for 3000 feet of cypress planks; Peter Dent, attorney for Fenton, presents note signed 19 November 1690 by Henderson at Pocomoke obligating him to deliver lumber by 10 December following; witnesses James Noble, Alexander Wilson; James Sangster, attorney for Fenton, acknowledges obligation; Court orders Henderson to deliver, pay costs.

67 ~ Samuel Sandford, Pltf. vs. John Rowell, Deft. for 945 lbs/pork; Peter Dent, attorney for Sandford, presents Rowell’s account from 1688 listing various items of merchandise totaling the amount demanded, less payment of 118 lbs; defendant admits debt; ordered to pay the balance of 827 lbs/pork, with costs.
68 ~ Peter Whaples, Pltf. vs. Henry Lynch, merchant, Deft. for debt of 3045 lbs/tobacco; James Sangster, attorney for Whaples, explains debt is due from a credit arrangement whereby a bill due from Captain Henry Smith to Nicholas Hartner was given to Henry Lynch as Smith’s attorney, and Whaples gave Hartner credit in exchange, expecting to be given credit in turn by Lynch; Lynch has since refused to pay; Peter Dent, attorney for Lynch, denies that Lynch ever assumed responsibility for paying Whaples; Sheriff ordered to call Jury: Samuel Handy (foreman), John Parsons, William Warwick, James Brattin, Moses Fenton, John Heath, William Beddard, William Dempson, Benjamin Idlett, John Renshaw, Richard Tull, Francis Martin; evidences: Miles Gray, Walter Lane, Henry Hudson; Jury finds for plaintiff; Court enters verdict.
69 ~ Col. David Browne, Pltf. vs. James Smith, Deft. for 3056 lbs/tbco; note of debt signed 4 March 1691/2 signed by Smith entered on record; on back is additional note from Smith to Edward Jones or James Sangster to “be pleased to confess judgement for me to Co’ll Browne for the inclosed principle of 3056 lbs of tobacco due to him by yr friend Ja: Smith”; Jones accordingly admits debt in Court.
70 ~ Thomas Davis Pltf. vs. John Carter, Deft. for taking servant woman, Mary Armitage, from his service; Peter Dent, attorney for Davis, presents a release of Mary Armitage, daughter of Mary Carter, from service of John Carter, signed by Carter on 1 August 1689; also an agreement of Mary Armitage to serve Thomas Davis for two and a half years, commencing the same day; both witnessed by Abigail Bell and John Hepworth; Dent claims Carter afterwards (16 August) enticed Armitage back into his own service; James Sangster, attorney for Carter, admits fault; Court awards 340 lbs/tbco damages to Davis.
71 ~ John Hepworth requests payment for four days attendance at Court, trial of Davis vs. Carter.
