injuries, by virtue of which he was for a long time confined to
a hospital, put to great expense in attending to his said
wounds, and was otherwise damaged and greatly disabled from
pursuing the business in which he was at the time engaged,
and rendered the less able to pursue the same; and
WHEREAS, The said Harry J. Whyte at the time aforesaid,
was a citizen of the State of Maryland, and is advised by
reason of said citizenship is unable to obtain redress in the
Courts of the State;
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the Comptroller of the State of Maryland be
and he is hereby authorized and directed to issue his warrant
upon the State Treasurer in favor of said Harry J. Whyte for
the sum of two thousand dollars damages sustained by him as
disclosed by the preamble of this Act, the same having been
approved by the Comptroller of the Treasury.
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 495.
AN ACT to repeal Sections 220, 240 and 243 of Article 24 of
the Code of Public Local Laws, title "Worcester County, "
sub-title "Pocomoke City, " as codified by John W. Staton
and legalized by Chapter 405 of the Acts of 1914, and to
re-enact the same with amendments, and declaring the same
an emergency law and necessary for the immediate pre-
servation of the public safety.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Sections 220, ' 240 and 243 of Article
24 of the Code of Public Local Laws, title "Worcester Coun-
ty, " sub-title "Pocomoke City, " as codified by John W. Sta-
ton and legalized by Chapter 405 of the Acts of 1914, be and
the same are hereby repealed and re-enacted with amendments
so as to read as follows:
220. The male citizens of Pocomoke City above the age of
twenty-one years, being citizens of the United States who have
resided within the corporate limits of said town six months next
