now prescribed by the Constitution, and laws of this State and
of this Article, and registration shall be essential to the right
to vote at any election held under this article, or any of the
provisions of any act of the General Assembly o£ Maryland,
submitting any proposition or question to the decision of the
voters of the town of Brunswick, In order to effect such regis-
tration, the Mayor, with the advice and consent of the Coun-
cil, shall, on or before the fifteenth day of June, Nineteen
Hundred and Sixteen, appoint one registrar for each of the
three wards of the town of Brunswick for the general registra-
tion of voters, to be held in Nineteen Hundred and Sixteen,
and thereafter the town clerk or in case of his absence or dis-
ability some suitable person appointed by the Mayor shall act
as registrar for all three wards, for supplemental registrations,
to be thereafter held. The registrars who shall be appointed
for the general registration to be held in 1916 shall sit for
three consecutive days, namely, Monday, Tuesday and Wednes-
day, June 26th, 27th and 28th, 1916, between the hours of
eight A. M. and eight P. M. on said days, for the purpose of
enrolling and registering the qualified voters for their respec-
tive wards, in such place or places as shall be designated by
the said Mayor and Council, and shall receive such compensa-
tion not to exceed $3. 00 per day, for such services, as the
Mayor and Council shall prescribe, either by order passed at
the time of appointment or by ordinance. But before regis-
tering any person as a qualified voter, the officer of registration
shall administer to him the following oath: "I do solemnly
swear (or affirm) that I will true answers make to all such
questions as shall be asked me concerning my qualifications or
disqualifications under the Constitution and laws of Maryland
and the charter of the town of Brunswick, to be registered as
a qualified voter in said town" but nothing in said oath or
affirmation contained shall be construed to authorize any reg-
istrar to ask any question touching any cause of disqualifica-
tion not expressly enumerated in the Constitution or laws of
Maryland or the United States, or in the Charter of the town
of Brunswick; and no person shall be permitted to register
who is disqualified under the provisions of the Constitution or
laws of Maryland, or the United States, or the Charter of the
town of Brunswick.

Said officers of registration before entering upon the dis-
charge of their duties, shall qualify before the Mayor of
Brunswick, by taking the oath prescribed by the Constitution
of Maryland.
