790 LAWS OF MARYLAND. [CH. 391

CHAPTER 391.

AN ACT to repeal Sections 1 and 2 of Article 2a, as the same
are numbered and set forth in the Annotated Code of Mary-
land, as legalized by Chapter 21 of the Acts of 1912 and
Chapter 16, of the Acts of 1914, of the General Assembly
of Maryland, title "Agriculture, " and re-enact the same with
amendments, and to add four new sections to said Article
2a, of said Annotated Code of Maryland, to follow imme-
diately after Section 6 of said Article 2a and to be num-
bered respectively 7, 8, 9 and 10, providing for the State
Board of Agriculture and the manner in which the same
shall be constituted, and prescribing certain powers and
duties.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Sections 1 and 2 of Article 2a, as the same
are numbered and set forth in the Annotated Code of Mary-
land, as legalized by Chapter 21 of the Acts of 1912 and
Chapter 16, of the Acts of 1914, of the General Assembly of
Maryland, title "Agriculture, " be and the same are hereby
repealed and re-enacted with amendments, and that four new
sections be added to said Article 2a, of said Annotated Code of
Maryland, to follow immediately after Section 6 of said Article
2a; said amended and additional sections to be known as Sec-
tions 1, 2, 1, 8, 9 and 10, and to read as follows:

1. A commission is hereby established which shall be known
under the name and style of the "State Board of Agriculture"
to consist of nine persons, citizens of the State of Maryland,
who shall be appointed by the Governor, with the advice and
consent of the Senate. The term of each of the nine members
shall be nine years and until his successor qualifies and shall
commence on the first Monday of June next ensuing his
appointment; except that of the members appointed by the
Governor in the year 1916, the Governor shall designate one
to serve until the first Monday of June 1917, one to serve until
the first Monday of June 1918, one to serve until the first
Monday of June 1919, one to serve until the first Monday of
June 1920, one to serve until the first Monday of June 1921,
one to serve until the first Monday of June 1922, one to serve
until the first Monday of June 1923, one to serve until the
first Monday of June 1924, one to serve until the first Monday
of June 1925. The members of said Board shall not receive
compensation for their services but shall be paid their reason-
able necessary expenses while engaged in the discharge of their
