SEC. 3. Be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect from
June 1st.

This Act is this 2nd day of May, 1916, approved to the ex-
tent and amount of Ten Thousand Dollars ($10, 000), and dis-
approved to the amount and extent of Sixteen Thousand Two
Hundred Dollars ($16, 200).

CHAPTER 354.

AN ACT to add certain additional sections to Article 22 of the
Code of Public Local Laws, title "Washington County, " to
be sub-titled "Pawn-Brokers, " to provide for regulating of
the business of Pawn-brokers in said County.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the following additional sections be added to
the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland, Article 22, title
"Washington County, " to be sub-titled "Pawn Brokers. "

SEC. 2. Any regular licensed Pawn broker in Wash-
ington County may charge for any loans upon goods, chattels,
or other personal property, to cover interest, storage, investi-
gation of title, packing and all other expenses incidental to the
Pawnbrokers' business, a sum of money not to exceed five pel-
cent, of the amount loaned for 30 days, of any loan made not
exceeding Twenty-five Dollars, and for any renewal or renewals
of said loan a sum of money, not to exceed two and one-half
per cent, of the amount loaned, for each 30 days of said renewal
or renewals. For loans of more than Twenty-five Dollars, a
sum not to exceed three per cent, of the amount loaned for
thirty days and two per cent, of said amount loaned for each re-
newal of said loan for a period of thirty days, and there shall
be no other charges of any kind whatsoever made for or on
account of said loans or the renewals thereof. At the time of
making each loan, or any renewal thereof, each Pawn broker
shall give to the borrowers, a. ticket or receipt stating the arti-
cle or articles upon which the loan is advanced, and the amount
of the loan. Said ticket or receipt shall have printed on it a
schedule of the amounts allowed to be charged upon loans under
the provisions of this Act.

SEC. 3. Such licensed Pawn-broker shall keep or cause
to be kept in suitable books, to be provided by them, an
accurate account of each loan or advance made, giving the name
